It sure beats the heck out of an old Victorian style house built in 1908 in Hollywood. It would also appeal to more than just bizarre magicians who would only want to take up space in the dungeons anyway with maybe some dibs on the cemetary where the souls of the impaled still linger.
Perhaps it could be subdivided into a super luxurious haunted hotel, convention center, resort, ski center...I'd buy stock.

Of course...one would have to spread evil rumours then as well:
"Tourist accidentally self-impaled while skiing at luxury horror resort." Now all we need is a bunch of high school students willing to spend a weekend alone in there and it's a hit

I would like to know how many, if any, who frequent the bizarre forum have actually performed at the magic castle?

I'm amazed that most magic conventions have no bizarre in them to speak of.

If there is something I would really LOVE to see...it would be to make a little bizarre magic club with its own place right here in Stockholm ....I'm sort of working on it...There is this really nice café with its 14th century vaults in the basement...

Hmm...Now, if the castle could be shipped stone by stone to a lcoal, more accesable place...that would be neat. (So long as the ghosts come too).

I've got to worry about alimony and the heating and electricity bills on the castle I live in now. And Dr Spektor, should we buy it and relocate it, where do you suggest? Lake Havasu? Jeff |

Ok, after googling a bit and finding them...I just have one question about this... which is sort of a central thing to bizarre magic in a sense, I suppose...
(My deepest apologies if anything I say below will offend anyone, Not at all my intention, I'm just curious and seeking knowledge here). So...Assuming you find one of these groups that are based on certain beliefs in the occult and more the wicca-style of magic...or if you prefer spelling it with a 'ck' in the end... Lets assume for a second that these groups have a firm belief in what they do, which is all good and fine, but wouldn't a magician such as myself coming there doing something that really is out of the box and well into the world of bizarre, (could be based on occult or other). Couldn't that be seen as sort of insulting to them? I mean, I've started a journey a long while ago that started taking me away from "normal" magic. After a lifetime doing that, I drifted over towards mentalism, read up on a LOT in that field, and have performed mentalism as well, but was not really happy, as I thought it lacked some "oomph!" It lacked some punch. Fine, I didn't have to use shiny props, which was a great relief, but still... That's why I've ventured into the field of bizarre...It is the home I never knew existed, and the darker side of storytelling and mixing a bit of sleight of hand (when needed) with mentalism methods and still use great looking (and smelling) props and audio to take the audience on a journey that is well beyond what their normal dull lives offer them. (Well...in a perfect world this is what happens at least...). And...what I (or probably a lot of you) do, borderlines on the occult. I use no disclaimers. By using a disclaimer and saying up front "Oh, btw...this is all trickery"...REALLY takes away the illusion. But in the end...when they find out that I am solely an entertainer, and using, in a sense, "their" field of special interest, which they might have serious beliefs in, to create special moments through trickery...couldn't this really upset people? I don't know...It is something I question myself. One could argue that "sure, these groups already have interests and beliefs towards where I want to push them, so they might only need a smaller nudge in order to really enjoy this experience"...but then again... I don't have these beliefs personally. My "performing" role of me absolutely believes in anything he does...He has to...in order to make the audience believe... But still...It just feels like I am deceiving them so much more on a totally different level than the normal "magicians guilt" that I've stopped having. So, to make a long rant (which I apologize for) short, by using/borderlining on their belief system (ghosts, spirits, occultism, christianity...) in order to create the experience...Well...I just think that it might go over too well and it might be thought of my "thing" as mockery... Sweden usually isn't a very religious country, so I havent really had much experience in this, and in the past (a long while ago), what I've done has been "normal" magic...which has never been a problem with various religous groups, as the linking rings isn't really a fundamental of their beliefs... But then again...this particular group, Dragon Rogue, might just be a bunch of people who like to dress up and have a special interest in occult things because it is cool and exciting ...

Askernas,
Calling them Dragon Rogue instead of Dragon Rouge made me laugh my head off. I would be considered about as serious a member of the group of people you fear offending as could be imagined and I wouldn't have a problem with you or anyone else doing this, after all, I try my best to pull off a bit of a bizarre performance myself. Or not the principle anyway. It all depends on how broadminded people are and whether they have a sense of humour. One of the funniest films I have ever seen was in Norwegian (the Swedes came in for some knocks I'll admit) and that proves to me that Scandinavians can create humour up to the standard of say Monty Python. Thus I do hope the Red Dragon people would take it on the chin - if not, direct them my way, and I'll offer them lessons in how to take oneself less seriously. The Grand Poobah of Dragon Rouge, Thomas Karlssen, spoke at a conference I organised in Schleswig, Germany and I have published several articles by him in a journal of Runic magick I edit (and a more dubious magazine I edit too). He was a good egg and I doubt he would have a problem with this. That being said, you are bound to wind up some of them, but I think fear of offending a small number of people is not grounds for going back to finger-flicking magic. You can't please some people and we're at least acting as if we are dubious magical beings or wizardly rogues if you will. Aha! Ian |

*heh* .. oups ... nice typo of me
... and I've even studied french for five years.... Thanks for tne input Ian... Now.. societies like Dragon Rouge (see, I got it right this time) is absolutely not the only audience out there, but I was just curious about it, as the very nature of the Orden would go very well in with some bizarre performance.. I'm still doing a bit of fingerflicking now and then (one's gotta pay the bills after all) but really seriously trying to move away from that field into more .. interesting dark corners of .. well .. anyone's mind Messing with people with something they all know is sleight of hand is one thing.. messing with their heads and people's belief systems .. that's another .. I guess I got caught up in a new wave of magician's guilt .. After all .. I can just approach them and tell them what I do ...
