Has anyone seen the chop cup routine in Martin Sanderson's "Corporate Close Up" DVD?
I'd like an informed opinion before I invest in it. Thanks! J.B. |

It's a good, fast routine that is done closeup in a strolling situation. Also, that DVD is shot on location at a real event, so you see real spectator reactions. It's a good routine.

I usually agree with Jeff but on this I don't. It's an average routine at best in my opinion. It's also quite short leaving me with the "that's it...?" feeling.
Martin is a good marketer of his tricks on the DVD and constantly tells you how awesome they are. He's good at getting you to agree. After re-watching I realized that they were all just average tricks done by a slick guy. There's nothing new there. He's a good magician and performs well. If you're interested in how to market yourself as a beginner in the industry I think that is where the benefit of the DVD is. Not the tricks. Perhaps Jeff will come back and tell me I'm full of it.

I have to second Bannon's routine. Not that Alan's isn't great but I feel that Bannon's moves at a pace more to my style. I do Bannon's routine (with a couple slight changes) on the street and it works well for me.

Good for you Mark. Yes, it's a gem. The patter and accouterments don't suit everyone's style but the theory behind the routine is supurb, in my opinion.
Plus it's entertaining. I did this quite a bit in a restaurant to nice ovations. Can't say that about every trick.

What you guys think of doing the chop cup in spectators hands? Martin Sanderson says that the spectator don't feel the lemons, but I try and it seems they feel, when the ball falls and the weight of the lemons. Anyone do this, what's your opinion?

Martin's chopless cup routine just didn't do it for me. I'd never perform it. In fact, the only reason to buy the video is for the business advice.
