First off, as some of you know.....im 13 (turning 14) and want to start busking....
in the show I am using some escapes BUT THIS IS NOT WHAT I'm here to talk about... I have some escapes and that is all fine and dandy candy. But from experience performing Escapes in GENERAL: What type of escapes tends to get the best reactions if performance is not a deciding factor (rope, chain, ETC.) IN TURN: What plays better, in/out escapes, OR... just escaping from something (this is more directed at more close up escapes...not stage escapes)....and once again, performance is not a deciding factor thanks -Jeff

In my opinion the escapes that get the best reaction are the ones that HAVE the best performance. It could be a simple rope tie or the mighty WTC.It's all what you do as an individual.I have seen many straight jackets performed. All the same equipment but many different levels of success were achieved because of the individual performances.

I hope this doesn't offend, but I've never found escapes performed by anyone under 18 to be believable, period. It's like a kid doing mentalism, just don't buy it. But things like the in-out escapes could be performed by a teen as its a funny premise and it will help you develop comedic timing and presentation skills.

I tend to agree with Wizard, but don't let that stop you.
The Best Escapes as far as I am concerned with my audience's reaction and comments is the stuff they know. Not everyone knows the true potential of handcuffs and they don't use them every day, but they do know the strength of cable ties, ropes, chain etc. They comment the best on those escapes. As to which to perform. It is like saying which magic is better, cards or coins? It is not the magic, or in this case they type of escape, that is better, but how you perform it. If you have the right showmanship and entertaining manner, Any type will work well for you. Regards Wolflock

Different strokes for different spectators, I suppose. Back when I was first doing night clubs and county fairs, at the age of 19, my agent gilded the lily by promoting me as a '16-year-old escape artist.' The audiences at it up.
