I love vanishing and producing. In fact I believe it is the strongest type of magic. What is the best vanishes and productions you've ever seen? I would Love to hear your feedback.

wikiro,
I know how you feel when it comes to the production or vanishing of ANYTHING. "Now you see it.... now you don't" - I wonder how long that expression has been around. Obviously as long as someone was doing the "impossible". I prefer card manipulation and you know we card manipulators love to produce and vanish cards. I loaded a new AVI clip for those interested in card manipulation. The clip is taken with a webcam as up close as possible. You can find my version of producing and vanishing cards at my desk Here! What is your preferred object for such productions or vanishes? Always looking forward to your posts, Randy Stewart |

Yes, I remember it, in fact I tried to do that and I really felt the BURN!!! Hehe Nothing hurts more than the eclipse production though. I have to wear gloves to do it. But it's my favorite.

Since this question is posted in the “finger/stage manipulations” thread, I must assume you are asking about bare handed vanishes and productions.
The instantaneous, barehanded production of a 36-inch scarf as performed by Vito Lupo is hard to top. Then there is Tony Clark’s instantaneous and barehanded production of a dove and then later vanishing it (bare handed in a toss vanish) that also must be a top 5-production/vanish routine. Ammar's production of a bottle and later vanish is great. The continuous production of coins and paper bills a la’ Misers Dream is a strong routine. I watched a Mexican magician do a great misers dream visibly dropping each coin into a metal container with a loud ringing clink sound only to show the container empty at the end of the routine (both a production and vanish). Of course there is the bare handed production of silks, balls, thimbles, coins, paper money, eggs, cigarette lighters, candles, soap bubbles, shot glasses, and on and on and on and on and …that can be looked to as both good productions and in most cases good vanishes too. The best? That is much too subjective! What is best for me may be simply ho-hum to you. I think that productions can be the most magical of events. Vanishes come a close second with transpositions a close third. But then, I could be wrong!

Anything that looks very clean. I'm partial to billiard ball vanishes and productions which allow you to show your palms.

My favorite is billiard ball vanishes, productions and color changes.

I like doing a bunch at the same time: produce a cane, candle, and rose... then do a short routine with each of them... then vanish them all together or by themself.

I like any sort of production or vanish as long as it looks graceful, it looks as if its easy but its really hard and it has to look effective e.g vanishing a wine bottle is more effective than vanisihing a match

What would you consider in producing/vanishing: "The bigger the better?," or "The more the better?"

Nothing like a great vanish or production for that matter, to tell the world I am a magician. I love the billiard balls, but have strayed away for some time. I do a bottle production in my show as an opener and it gets a great reaction.
Ah can't forget the Flip Stick. Probably one of the best and most versitile for a magician to perform. All you need is a magic wand and a copy of greater magic. oliver |

I do not think it is a matter of the bigger the better or a matter of how much you vanish. I think a great vanish or production is as beautiful as the presentation or storyline you are trying to show while you are on stage.
If the production or vanish is not expected, or if the vanish or production is done to a wonderful creshendo in the music, it seems to get a better response from the audience.

In production, I like what SALVANO does in his act. He produces 4 or 5 glasses full of liquid! At the end he vanishes a glass with liquid.

I like Mike Ammar's vanishing wine glass. I produce it before the vanish.
