I have a stage show coming up in two weeks in which I want to do a suspended escape. The theater has no overhead rigging. I need to come up with a portable, stable rig, approximately 7 1/2 feet tall from which I can hang.
My budget is limited ($250 and below), and I need to be able to have this thing ready to use within the next ten days. Any help is hugely appreciated. ~Stephon

I would base it on David De-Vals designbs in his escapology secrets book. It is very good and I think still available?

You can see the design in action at your local cemetery- its the same design used to lower concrete vaults into the ground.

Portable scaffold or for a mobile on / off unit try a forklift truck.
Have used both on and off stage for low budget productions. The FLT enables a swinging effect (Which will add to the suspended escape, being able to swing from stage left to right will fill any size stage and add to the overall effect). Ken. |

I think I'm going to go with a portable stand designed to be used with sex swing; like what Richard uses for his gantry, but minus the wheels. (The wheels are a very nice addition, tho, as they not only increase mobility, but add height).
Thanks for all the suggestions and information, tho.

If you don't mind my asking, how do you plan on getting into your hanging position?

I plan on using gravity boots, and my intention is to be lifted up by two volunteers.
Thanks to everyone for the information and suggestions; they were very helpful. I've started a new post regarding my next hurdle in the process of putting this routine together. Any help there would be appreciated, too. ~Stephon

@Stephon
Which s** swing did you end up purchasing? Are you happy with it's quality/weight-bearing properties?
