On the 27th and 28th we will be doing our first magic luau at the California Magic Dinner Theater in Martinez Ca. and I am seeing if there is something I am missing in the way of ideas for the show. we will be doing our regular magic show in between hula dancing and hawaiin music (we play the ukelele and sing as well) so here are my thoughts at this time. we will start by doing a couple of hawaiian classic songs (pearly shells etc.. Don Ho Style) with comedy by play between my partner and I, then bring up the dancers for a quick hula lesson for Mark and I (grass skirts and all), then leave the dancers to do a Hawaiian Hula / dance of the hands portion, then we will come out and do our magic show and end with one more tune on the ukes and our usual encore piece after that.
so it is a complete show already I am just interested to hear if there are any Hawaiian or Island type effects or gags that anyone knows of that I have missed. obviously we are a comedy magic act and that is the type of stuff I am looking for. Thanks Rich

Linking Leis(sic?) ala linking ropes seems like and good "connection".
Card to orange in Pineapple.... Pearl dogs ala balloon doggies. Chop cup or cups and balls with coconut halfs... Song from South Pacific with the men wearing the coconuts.. have card reappear under ...for running gag... Harris

Well I have a Wet & Wild Magic Show I do in Florida. I have adapted my tricks to play outside. It sounds like your show is indoors. Some of my routines might be adaptable for you. My show is summer themed.
You could do a manipulation act to the Hawaii 5-O theme it is short and dramatic. Water balloon juggling Bill in super soaker with carnival balloons featured in MAGIC magazine July 2005 Hawaiian shirt blendo I would contact someone like Lynetta Welch. http://www.fabricmanipulation.com/about.html Multum pablum http://www.qualitymagic.com/?html=full&key=276 I do this with lemonade instead of milk. I have a little lemonade stand and I mime myself as a child selling lemonade. Looking for the glasses I stumbled on this!! Looks like a great stand-up routine for your show. http://www.martinsmagic.com/?html=full&a......p;key=61 Tiny bubbles would be great with Losander's bubble zombie as a finally. http://www.magicalvisionsllc.com/isell3/product.php?id=116 also I would check this post about the Banana Man. What a fantastic act that really needs to be brought back to life. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=179

Thanks and I will file them away for myself.
I haven't surfed over hear in a while.... It is great when they give you more time. Booking 08 shows, but just got one for a National Convention August 4th. (not as much time to create...) Harris
