Intelligent Redesign.
It is the perfect presentation for a close up performance. And I have been given $900.00 for two hours or $450.00 an hour to present it. I use it all the time. J ack H.O.A-X

Sorry for this Jim, but I offer Bob Cassidy's Fundamentals, now that it is offered via Lybrary.com
However, at this very time I am in the midst of Enrique's Invisible Readings so may change my mind when I'm done. |

The best ebooks - depends largely on who is asking. The best ebooks for whom? As a solid and broad introduction you can't go wrong with "The Amateur Magician's Handbook" or "Dai Vernon's Book of Magic"
If you are interested mainly in certain categories like coins, mentalism, cards, illusions, etc. then there are other ebooks which would be 'better'. It also depends on your level and experience in magic. Can you do basic sleights and are you familiar with basic techniques and methods, presentation, timing, routining? If you give us some background then we will be much better able to answer your question. I list more than 500 magic ebooks at Lybrary.com. Anyone can be 'best' under the right circumstances.

I was looking more at mentalism e-books. I have Predictabilities, Hoodwinkings, Creating Impact, Nine, Pow-Wow, Annemann's one man show and several from Lulu. All these I have enjoyed and used effects from, I believe that I have gotten "big bang for a few bucks". I have looked at Intelligent design and the Lybrary e-books several times and have considered both. I was seeking everyone's opinion of what were good e-books but more importantly why they enjoyed them and used the effects. Thanks to those who responded and those that have viewed.

I would have to say(though I don't own it) that daniel garcia's ebook notes have the most bang for the buck ive hear. I know a some of the effects in blue prints and next, trust me they are killer!

I have all of the Michael Paul e-books and I love them. So far, everyone that I've got has been pure gold. I use almost all of the material out of each book. Mike is also a local magician (here in MA) and owns a shop not too far from my house. I stop in with questions and he is very helpful and friendly. My personal favorite is Flicker, but "bang for your buck" I'd have to say Simply Devastating. You can find the downloads here

In terms of cost to value ratio, I would have to agree with Elliott Bressler's Switchcraft, if you are a mentalist. I paid 20 bucks, got much more info than in two books costing double the price each, and have received four, count them, four, multi page updates since the initial investment. I should also note that most of the material offered is the thinking of the author, rather than that of others, unlike one highly touted manuscript I have purchased.
As far as other titles mentioned, Invisible Readings is pure trash. Don't buy it, forget you ever heard the name, pretend Enrique Enriquez does not exist, and never, ever, look at mevproshop.com again. In fact, stop doing mentalism all together. Go sell cheese or something...Ok, that was all subterfuge. Invisible Readings is the most brilliant thinking on the art of reading I have come across in years. Buy it. You will be a better mentalist and human being, assuming the two are not mutually exclusive. |

..."big bang for a few bucks"... ... another vote for Switchcraft here!!! Elliot has written already four supplement to Switchcraft (The Billet Machine, Billet Proof, Silver Billet, Back from the Dead) and the price is always $19,95... a steal, even for the triple! Best, Pier |

Thanks gaafman, John and Pier.
It’s a great to see Switchcraft on “Best Of” threads. I am doing my best to make it as worthwhile a purchase as possible. Ultimately, I want it to be the kind of book I always wanted to buy. Thanks again, Elliott |

Are there any other eBook vendors other than Lybrary.com, and the creators' personal website? I mean, big vendors like Lybrary, only not Lybrary? (I've had some bad experiences with them).

Trickshop is another source of ebooks. FWIW, I've had no trouble with Lybrary.

Aaron Smith's Magic Depot (www.magic.org) is a good source for ebooks, especially Peter Duffie ebooks. Ebooks are instant delivery, which I don't believe is the case with Peter Duffie's site, who sends you the link within 24 hours. Magic Depot is also the only place to get the Best of Peter Duffie ebook, which is great.

I have never had any problems with trickshop or with lybrary. These are really the only two e-book vendors I purchase from.
See ya! Joe L.

If you want to learn advanced sleight of hand, Michael Close's ebooks on the side steal, palming, etc are terrific. Probably the best instruction anywhere on those moves.
