Hi. I'm Martin Waring and I live in York, England. I'm a Systems Development Manager with GE. I've been into magic since 2003 and love performing any chance I get. I've done cabaret shows for family parties, a wedding, table magic, street magic for York carnival and 2 days at a kids music festival doing a combination of juggling workshops and close-up magic.
I've bought a lot of tricks in the last 4 years, some great quality, some pretty average and some pretty dire. I truly believe that the most useful thing I've done in my magical development is to learn from some top professionals here in the UK how to develop my performance style. That with presentation, patter and timing a competent performer can turn even an average trick into pure magic in the eyes of the spectator. That is what I'm aiming for but I realise that I've still got a long way to go. I follow the work of Martin Sanderson, Nick Einhorn, Carl Cloutier, Richard Osterlind, Richard Sanders, Devin Knight who have all helped me, either personally or through their product releases and teaching videos. I've been a full member of Talkmagic (my nom de plume is Martin Le Guerre) for several years and whilst not as prolific a contributor as some (I don't have time) I hope I have delivered an even handed and fair set of opinions. Recently I've had the feeling that Talkmagic has gone a bit stale and that the Café is more dynamic and has more to offer. Oh and I'm also addicted to cappucino............ |

Hello Martin, welcome to the Café.
Although I live in Leeds, I work just outside York, maybe we could meet up sometime? Tom
