Title:Wedding by Bruno Copin
Medium: DVD Arena: Card magic Available: Any shop, distributed by Murphys Magic Supplies Bruno Copin of France has released a number of items for the professional magician and has priced them to keep them out of the hands of hobbyist. One of the great magicians of France Bruno has released these DVDs in both French and English, his English is very good and not a problem in his explanations. The production quality is good with the camera work from the front as well as a side view shown in a small window, the sound is fine. Bruno works to music and his routines are very precise in delivery because the moves must be in sync. While I respect Mr. Copins desire to maintain a standard of pricing in this case I think the DVD is over valued, compared to his Crazy Ball project which is a very unique performance using a chop cup. This does not mean that this isn’t a good routine, it is, but it should, in my opinion, be priced at the average for DVDs. The routine is said by Bruno to be done while working tables in a restaurant and that he often has to bring in a special table to work with. To be honest due to the set up required I think this would fit better in a more formal setting as in a close up show in a small theater or parlor situation. The routine makes use of IT, a favorite of Bruno, but you will have to switch out the set up used for Crazy Ball to do this routine in the same show. Now this could be done at tables if space for your close up pad, required by the way, is available. Bruno also once again makes use of cigarettes, a major no no in the US. In the context of his performance the cigarettes would make sense but you will want to re structure the routine to replace the cigarette, no big problem. The routine is basically a romantic story using a king and queen from a deck of card. The cards do some unusual things, thanks to IT, and then goes into a haunted deck type segment. This isn’t the cleanest haunted deck, based on the deck that cuts itself by Al Baker, but it fits in the context of the presentation. The next segment is a rising card, again not the greatest but it works for the routine and that is what counts, followed by a nice kicker ending. In fact a better than average kicker. It really is a nice routine and isn’t difficult to do once you get your IT management down. If this is up your alley and you are not budgeting this will be of interest to you. It is a nice routine as I said but a tad over priced this time. You do get a nice supply of the excellent IT Mr. Copin makes available if that takes some of the sting away. It is your call, more for the pros out there than general interest types. It is creative in delivery I must admit and makes nice theater. |
