Hi all,
I waded through the Café and found a ton of info on the Johnson cig thru coin but not a whole lot on the Bellanger version. From what I gather, the general consensus is that the Johnson version is best. However, I am Canadian so the Bellanger version is appealing as I would be able to get it in my currency (not a big deal I know but it would be nice). So I would be interested in any opinions from those who have the Bellanger version and can comment on its quality, etc. Also, is it possible to do the Ammar routine with the Bellanger gimmick? (sorry if that is an obvious question!). I am probably going to get both gimmicks but I just wanted some idea of both beforehand. Thanks for any help! Landon |

I use my own gimmick. I drilled a hole (the size of a cig.) through a quarter. this way I can show the cig through on both sides. A (your favorite) simple switch and it's done. I keep my coin on my key chain and know where it is at all times, nothing breaks and I have had the coin for many years.
Good luck - |

I use the Belanger the I made too, and I use the one with the spring. If I want to hand out the quarter on the cigarette or pen for the spectator to keep, I would use the Belanger version.

Landon,
My reply will be slightly off topic. I also live in Canada and wanted to perform cig thru coin, and also with Canadian currency. My solution was to purchase Finger thru Twoonie, by Roy Kueppers. It won't work with a cigarette as the opening is too large and a dead give-away, but I found this alternative gaff fit my "something thru coin" needs nicely. Jim |

Hi guys,
I appreciate the responses. Looks like I might try the Bellanger version but not do the Ammar handling. That way I could still hand out the coin on pen at the end and I'm sure there are other nice handlings for the Bellanger version. I am still going to get the Johnson version and perhaps use that in situations where I don't borrow a coin. jimmyj-thanks for the suggestion. I have been looking at the Finger through Coin as well and may consider it, although I like the idea of handing out the coin on the pen. Perhaps I could combine the two though-that's a thought! Thanks again for the help, landon |

You can borrow the coin in both versions. It would be best to get the Sprin and the Belanger version.

Since cigarettes are not as "politically correct" as they once were, I've started using a rolled up dollar bill instead. Great Reactions

There are many ways for a visual "healing of the hole. Heck even a false claim that the hole is gone. The spec wont buy it and heckle you.... you then give in and openly hand him/her the coin with no more hole... and it is comletely examinable. Rocco has some great ideas on this. Just saw an ad from Hank Lee for a "cigarette through spoon" Substitue a straw and it should work out for tablehopping.

I have always been partial to Tom Mullica's routine. The quarter is placed on the top of an empty beer bottle. The spec with eyes closed (everyone else can keep theirs open) wraps his hand around the coin and the top of the bottle. You then use take a pencil, because it's size makes it more interesting, and push it thru the coin into the bottle. The spec can then open their eyes and see that the pencil is now in the previously empty bottle. The switch is done as you remove the coin from the bottle. The quarter used is the flap type.

Carolini, I like the idea of that routine.

Isn`t there a version of cigarette through keyhole out there - would be more fitting instead of cigs...?
Thanks for any hint. T |
