If youdont mind me asking around how much money do you make busking. I plan on starting in a few years and I no it will take me a while to make wha an experienced busker makes. Tahnx.

p.s. I'm looking for Animal Babes,Lovers, and Gazzo cups. Any of which you'd be willing to sell to me would be great. Thanx again.

Hey.
This is a very vaugue question.
There are many different variables.
Where are you located? Where will you be performing? Is there a lot of tourism? How long is you show? How good are you? Do you have good presentation skills and can you truly entertain an audience?
How good can you sell yourself to an audience? Is your hat line good?

The amount of money we make can be from $10 to $300, or even more!

Like a friend/mentor of mine said, (and this is the second time I have quoted this here on the Café)
"The great thing about busking is that there is not maximum to how much you can make. The bad thing is that there is also no minimum..."

I make all the money I possibly can, theoretically that is,
in a best case scenario, when it's not raining and the market
is up and the Cowboys win.
Otherwise I don't do so well.

He's not telling you how to make money, he's merely stating the variables that determine how much you will make. Take into account those variables and you should have an idea of how well you can do.

For those that are buskers on a regular basis what is the average amount you take home? Forget about variables. They ALWAYS play into any equation, and they play into the average.

Did ya ever hear of the mathematician that liked to sleep with his head in the freezer and his feet in the oven?

He said it made him feel fine on average.

Hi Skater.

Not much on the way of helpful answers was there? I'm afraid you are not going to get the answer you want. I can tell you that in a day's busking you are likely to make somewhere between $10 and $2000 but that's not very helpful either is it?

Buskers will lie to you. Those who earn a lot are scsred of the taxman so they won't admit it. Those who eran a little have their pride to consider so will inflate it.

Add to this that your question is somewhat vague and appears to mean something different to what it actually says and you're in no-hope street!

The real answer is ... $175 per day - a living wage. I doubt you'll get a better answer than that.

Flame away, folks!

Skater2,

I once made $12 in a hat. That was awesome.

This is a very difficult question to answer honestly. It depends on you, your act, your experience, the weather, the location, the day of the week, concurrent events and many other random factors.

To say you will make a given amount in a day is speculative. I wouldn't take any answer too seriously.

If Danny Hustle chimes in I will listen...otherwise I can make up a number too.

To embelish or exagerrate what one makes is not uncommon. Then I've heard others say they only made a few bucks just to discourage others from even trying.
I will tell you this, GOSPEL TRUTH- I know a highschool teacher who makes as much if not more twisting balloons, as does teaching science.
Now either that says something about low paid teachers, or what a drunk partier is willing to dish out for a balloon shaped liked like ***es and breasts.
Skater----- One thing I have learned!!! Just because you busk doesn't mean someone owes you money!!!

Danny Hustle has already chimed in on this subject. His answer - $200 a day for 8-10 hours...close to what Genghis has mentioned above. For those of you who stay out 8-10 hours, you deserve it! My legs are tired after two hours.

Skater, Genghis hit it right on. Most of us, and in particular myself, could get a Pulitzer Prize for fiction if they ever read our tax returns. I keep my income to myself but I will say that you can live very well of what a good busker makes in a year. You have to work at it and it's not always fun and games. But I am a lot happier doing this than I ever was working a "real job."

I make $20 hats. My shows are 15 to 20 mins.

I can do at best 3 shows an hour.

but realistically I do 1 or 2...

At the end of the day I spend about 5 hours performing.. The rest of the day is travel time, finding a pitch and set up.

After travel cost and the cost of props that I destroy... (Cards, Oranges)

I can walk away with around $150... But for now it's not about the money it's about becoming a better performer..

The $ is just a nice sidebar.
Shawn.

Hey Paddy,

When and where do you busk?
I am truly blessed to have a job where people are laughing all the time and everyone believes in magic....Come to think of it, I'm blessed to even have a job.
