I wonder if you'd have to sedate a hippo
to make it disappear effectively.

That'd be a lot of drug.

Imagine a loopy rhino.

I finished "Hiding the Elephant" last Thursday.

I loved the book and it's a definite essential to
anyone who has a keen interest or wants to learn
magic, and anyone who is already a seasoned performer.

I talked with Jim about this, and he found amusing
that my statement as someone who knows nothing about
magic, and yet gets first hand expert advice from the
greatest, that this book would be helpful as contradictory.

Ah. Yes. Leave it to me be contradictory.

I'm still no magician.

I decided this is going to my magic thought thread...
like a magic twitter. I mean I already have a twitter
but why can't I twitter here too?

Hmmm.

Anywho...that's what its gonna be.

Isn't it like Six Degrees of separation or something...

Dude...Elvis Presley.

Totally awesome!!!

YAY!

I don't care...I'm not religious but I loved the book and I have decided to become a preacher. Smile

I care enough that I want to discuss it.

While I am thinking about it...

it is hypocritical for someone to say they are personally attacked when someone
crosses the line when it comes to psi and paranormalism ... reaching across boundaries of the living and the dead.

Yet...

their hero is Houdini.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Houdini actively disprove "Charlatanry"?

I do not believe he was known for being one himself. He's not my hero, but still.

Perhaps I misunderstood the statement.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Happy Holidays all.

My yearly Holiday-OH-Seven EP Gift to my listeners is now available.

Since my music is not available on itunes or other digital distribution nor free on any sites. I always put together a new song, re-worked song or a really old song from the past from one of my obscure releases.

This year it is two new songs.

"UNtrust" is part of my ongoing Shakespeare project, written to Sonnet #138 and "Heart over my Heart," is part of my inde film movie music inspired project. A film called "Sweet Land." About a mail order bride from Germany who is to marry a Norewegian Farmer in which they are not allowed to marry. Post-WWII fears and other suspicions make it difficult for her to integrate in society. She brings along a gramaphone in which she plays while she is housekeeping in which they dance around. A center piece in the film. Eventually events change and their love grows. A beautiful moving film, truly recommend it.

Most recently I had a breakthrough on my VS project studio system and the delay of working on this was really learning how to use this new breakthrough. NOT to get all music geeky on y'all. But working on these songs helped me getting my feet wet, so to speak.

These are demos, nothing perfect but new songs none-the-less.

To get the link to where to download the two songs and art either:

1. add yourself to my email list at http://www.mai-ling.net
2. or add yourself to my Livejournal.

The Link at Live Journal is here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/mai_ling/347265.html

This makes it just easier to make sure no one is forgotten.

I'm a bit like Mr. Higley.

There's so many effects and methodologies, knowing them all would be a bear.
I just learn how to do what I want to do and enjoy what I don't.
People will ask, "Do you know how 'so-and-so' did...?"
I reply, "No clue! Wasn't it wonderful?!?"

Well, tomorrow the 39th Annual Collector's Weekend begin
and will be at the Hyatt in Schaumburg. I'm throughly
excited.

I actually joined the MCA. Its my first time ever joining
anything magic related, and being able to go is equally excited.

Guest of Honor is Harry Anderson.
Which makes all the better.

Even though I'm not a magician, and I don't care to learn
how things are done...this is soo much different.

Plus being around people who are not out to show off is a
big plus. ++++

All in All, I can't wait.

I'll report in when I can.

Oh! How I coveteth antique magic! So sad that I've been priced out of the market on all but the most paltry of items... A few odd scraps here and there, a few old autographs of magicians long ago. It's a rich person's game, these days!
