I am thinking about purchasing Wayne Houchin's effect "Indecent" and just wanted to know a couple of things from those performing the trick.
Can it be done on a table? Every video shows it being performed on the ground. Secondly can the bag be examined at all before or after the trick? Finally, can the spectator remove the card from the bag? Thanks in advance for any replies. Joe |

The bag is normal and can be borrowed, as with deck. It is a very clever handling and a real fooler! I first saw Dean Dill do this and was nailed.

The bag can be borrowed?
That is great!!!! I assumed the performer had to supply his own bags and somehow "prepare them for the effect.??? Thanks again for any replies. |

Thanks for the good info.
I had read that each time you do the effect it costs $5.00 and the bag can't be handled by the spectator. I love the look of the effect! Thanks Joe |

There is no expense to perform this trick.

Well, you need a bag (which can be reused over and over again) and a deck of cards.
That is a one time expense of under $5.

What an awful function of Internet!
First when I saw Houchin's demonstration, I was astonished but suspected the demo was edited. When I saw a demo performed other magician, I confirmed the Houchin's demo was edited. And now reading posts in this thread, I confirmed my guess of the method was right. What an awful function of Internet! Hideo Kato |

Right on the spot, Kato-san,
most methods will not remain a secret, if you can watch the presentation over and over again. Naturally, it requires some basic magical knowledge - and the fact that you discovered the method does not mean that the average amateur magician can do the same. However, in principle you are right. Gone are the days where the news of a great trick just spread from mouth to mouth . . . Andy

In my last post, I pointed many things together.
1. Edited demo advertisement. (Do you remember COSMOS?) 2. Mediocre performance video of marketed items (or published tricks) on YouTube. 3. Hinting methods in Magic Forum. I think 2 and 3 are ethical matters, but 1 is a legal matter. It is like a kind of fraud, at least to me. Edited TV magic show is ditto. I am recently angry with these things. Hideo Kato |

Thanks for all the info. I am going to order the effect today.
I am also a huge fan of Cyril Takayama's magic. I would love to find a resource for some of his effects. The Salt thru Table he does is mind blowing. Does anyone know if this is commercially available? Thanks again for all the great words on "Indecent". Joe |

Andy-san, it would be too much off-topic to talk about editing in TV magic show in this thread.
But talking edited demo advertise has relation with this thread. There are distinct difference between edited demo and non-edited demo. Hideo Kato |

Kazato-san: You are correct edited demo videos are immoral and fraudulent. There is one online by a guy I know, the trick seems amazing... it is called C.A.N.N.I.B.U.S. and the video is cut so many times it is a joke, but I have been told that it could have been done one shot with no edits or cuts. But the current young magicians love to cut ala MTV and put in all kinds of music, none of which helps if it is a demonstration.
JOurneyjoe: Cyril develops his own effects with his team, spends a lot of money on R&D and does not market his effects. My suggestion? Put on your thinking cap and create your own magic. Dream of an effect and then go about solving it.
