Hey Dave thanks for the advice. Well, I learned the Vernon Wand Spin with a crappy wand from The Magic Warehouse that I bought for $5. I think I might get a nicer wand but I'm just worried that my new wand won't work for the wand spin. Also, are longer wands better for the Vernon Wand Spin? Should I get a 12 or 14 inch Tabman wand?

The 22" baseballs are locatable by Googling Rawlings Jumbo MLB baseball.
They would be suitable for loading into a large hat with some depth to it.

Kingry, thanks for the link. I might buy some baseballs when I grow bored of my lacrosse balls.
Also, Shawn thanks for the advice. I will probably get the 14 inch wand. |

Regarding the wand spin: I've made custom wands for people who do the spin. The main thing is inertia. A 12 inch wand made of 3/8" diameter brass rod will have a much better spin than a 14 inch wand made of birch or maple doweling.
If you have short arms, a 12 inch wand is long enough.

If I don't want to dent my cups, should I make sure that my wand has wooden tips? Right now I'm using a sort of heavy plastic wand and my cups don't have any serious dents.

My suggestion is to practise the wand spin with rods from all kinds of materials. I do that and now can just take up any rod/wand of any kind an spin them. Besides the inertia that is very helpful, you need to get use to the movement. Pay attention to the elbow position when doing the spin, it helps ease the movement.

Practice the wand spin away from your cups. Find a rod that is easy to spin and use it. Then use the wand you want. ANY wand will dent your cups if you hit them hard enough.

Hmmm I will practice my wand spin a little more then. I don't have many rods laying around my house, so I will just use my plastic wand and a wooden dowel for now. Also Bill, most of the dents on my cups are on the inside from poking the cups before the wand through cup move.

Matt.
"Rod" in this case is a generic term for a long cylinder. A dowel is a rod. A wand is a rod. You don't need to hit the cup hard when you do the wand through cup move.
