I had a great pair of very sharp scissors that I used for cut, and restore, but I thought a larger pair would sell the trick a little better, so I bought a larger pair, took them to the knife sharpener to grind down the point, and just for kicks I had my old pair made as dull as possible. I now start my cut and restore with the dull scissors, and I emphasize grabing the middle of the rope, which really sells the trick, after she fails to cut the rope I give her the sharp scissors, and say I just wanted to make sure I could really trust you with a sharp object. Whoda thunk I'd get such mileage from that silly idea.
