Ah.... poor baby. You know what is worse? Having your lung collapse 3 times within a month. Smile

Thanks guys!

Throat is much better, still not gone tho!

Heres some pictures for your entertainment pleasure from a gig on Friday. I've recently been working with a uk based group that provide holidays in special hotels for people with needs. This week it was MS week. It was hard but well worth the effort.

This picture...I have no idea what I'm doing (as usual) Answers on a post card. I think I was singing a love song to him perhaps.

Correct! And in 3-6 months that surgeon will take care of it in no time!

Correct you ARE!!!!! Tonsils rank pretty low here on the importance scale. Now my friend who had a pain in his head last month and was in brain surgery 24 hrs later ( to remove a tumor ) ranked a bit higher. What does Brain Surgery cost you there in the US? Lets hope you never find out.

I think it is wonderful that doctors work for free in Canada. Do they have special communities where they are allowed to live and the locals bring them baskets of food to eat? I guess the alternative would be for them to marry a person who does get paid in order to have a place to stay and food.

4...3.....2...1....and MagicSanta jumps in! I could see that one coming. LOL

To my US friends. This thread is really about dealing with Tonsillitis and not really a place to debate the pros and cons of each others systems. I'm sure there are lots of other threads here dealing with just that. You'll note that I didn't knock the American system but rather just corrected a common myth among those that don't live in Canada. These stories of long waits for surgeries are greatly exaggerated and mostly for political fodder either in the US or Canada.

Its like an emergency room. The most needy get treated first. A guy with a broken finger will have to wait while the guy with a knife in his chest gets priority. I'm sure if you look hard enough you'll be able to find that guy with the broken finger complaining some place he had to wait. But he never complains about the bill. LOL

Just in case some readers may actually think Doctors don't get paid here in Canada..they do! They do pretty darn good for themselves. They get to bill a government system that pays them well and they don't have to fight insurance companies for their money or second guess doing a procedure for a patience worrying about whether or not it will be covered by insurance. If I had any complaint about the system here and doctors it would be the fact that they do TOO MANY procedures so they can bill that cash cow of a system for every cent they can.

But that's another story...

MagicSanta,

Well now you know our secret. But it goes deeper than you suspect. We ship our Cold Canadian Air ( that's the stuff that American Weathermen are always talking about ) into the US to help cut down on global warming. In turn America sends us money to pay for our socialist medical system. ( the one they don't want you to have ) You guys send us so much money that sometimes the dog sleds that carry all that " cold air money" ( why do you think they refer to money as cold, hard cash...because its cold and frozen hard by the time it gets here ) get buried in the snow on their way to the igloo hospitals.

Pretty soon we will have the in-tranet as we are getting upgrades for our Commodore 64's and then you can wire transfer all that money to us instead. Did you know we's getting color monitors perty soon as well?

Love to chat more but I gots to go... a polar bear is a chasing a baby seal around the back yard and I gots to go club him before the bear gets him first!

Its miserable here but it could be worse.. I could live in Chicago!

Best,

Tim

You'll be free some day Tim! Back to tonsils, parents, why do they not pull tonsils like they use to anymore? Also isn't it dangerous for any adult to get their tonsils out or is that measles?

Magicsanta asked.

I didn't know that people came equipted with measles. Or that they could be removed by a doctor. Sorry that's just how My mind works sometimes.

Some never need there tonsils removed. When I was around 10 or so the dr. told me I would more than likely never have to have them removed. I am not sure but I don't' believe it's really that much more of a problem to remove them from an adult.

My two brothers still have there tonsils most of My family does. If I am not mistaken only two of My cousins have had them removed. Were all adults now and have no problems with them being in.

Always good for a laugh MagicSanta,

Ok.. back to tonsils and measles. Both are considered childhood ailments. Measles are much more uncomfortable/serious for adults to have from what I understand. I don't think tonsils makes a difference. I think most people have them removed as a kid these days don't they.

Who has still has em?

Mine are long gone.

The reason I ask is because my wife was a teacher and I never, ever, heard of a kid being out to get tonsils removed and of my sisters kids, total of eight kids, none have had 'em out. When I was a kid every kid got 'em out. Where are the doctors at? I know there are some here.

See, I try to stay on topic and get attacked by the Canadians as if I was a baby seal...heartless those people. Did you, gentle readers, know that most of those on the Titanic survived? They washed up on shore in Nova Scotia and a band of drunken hunters beat them to death thinking they were seals and then, of course, they covered up. Who figured it out? Houdini...he found proof and then...blammo...Houdini just 'happens' to be murdered in Montreal. How convenient.
