Here's a video of Mikame Color Vision cube - looks too good, especially the last bit he did. Any thoughts?

The ending "Spin Move" is simply a clever "move"--it "LOOKS" like all 4 sides of the box are shown.
That "move" can also be found listed in U.F. Grant's "Color Vision Methods" manuscript. |

I've been using that $5 plastic one for years, and it's a real fooler. I turn my back while the spectator chooses, then turn around to give the prediction, just as the video shows.
And thank you for pointing to this video. It is very good. I really like the move to "show" all four sides. (stolen by me as of right now!) But the move to open the box top looks just a tad clumsy. I can't actually see anything, just the handling doesn't quite look natural. Occasionally I'll have people try to hide the cube and give me an empty box, to which I reveal "I have this EMPTY feeling", to get a laugh. BTW, if you're bold, the box can also be used to read the date on a coin put inside.
...what if I could read your mind?

I have about two dozen Mikame tricks, and Color Vision is one of my favorites. For starters, it is SO easy to carry around. I often toss it in my bag when I go on vacation or business trips because it is a great conversation piece. The box and cube and beautifully made and completely ungimmicked. I also love this trick because I've never had a layperson figure out how it works. Mikame provides a good routine and handling for a variety of methods to present the trick.

I'm surp0rised no one has raised the possibility of knock-offs in this thread. I also have about two dozen or so Mikame effects and I love them all. Some require a little more skill than others, but all are well made and well gimmicked. I've always wanted a set of Mikame Chinese Sticks and when a magic friend suggested a certain dealer on the west coast who was offering them for about $80 I snapped them up. Upon receipt, I noticed immediately that the instructions were not original but copies and not even good ones at that. The box wasn't the signature blue Mikame is noted for, at least in the darker color boxes. The box was off color and cheaply made, imitating the Mikame blue. But the real kicker was the fact that one of the sticks didn't work right! I had to bang the oppossite end of the tassel end to loosen the gimmick, which was very sticky. It never did work. I was furious because the quality was not Mikame's. I sent an email to the dealer describing all the deficiencies, and told him they were outright knock-offs. He was surprised and checked his inventory and told me he was going to check with his supplier. I sent the sticks back and got my money back. Ironically, not two months later I was in a brick and mortar in New York and the owner showed me the Mikame mini pom pom pole. Guess what? Same problem; bad box, sticky gimmick lack of Mikame Craft hallmark label or other recognizable Mikame identity. The owner was embarrassed. I believe there is a lot of bad Mikame stuff out there and y'all ought to hold your dealers responsible. They ought to know what they're buying before passing them off to us. It helps to know your product and be sure your supplier knows his product. Hope this helps. Bob

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

There is a great Color Vision routine in Modus Operandi Vol. 3 called Professional Color Vision. Has a great move where you apparently show all sides of the box.
