I know there is probably already a trick sorta like this because I have seen something like it. It is very simple plus I like it because I am beginning and still don't know much sleight of hand with cards or even how to do some of the things that you all talk about like the "shapeshifter" and so. Ok, first you need to know how to "Card fly". I learned how from here
http://www.ian-rowland.com/Vault/FunCardFly1.htm The link should work but I haven't totally mastered copying down the right links in here. Next I get a spectator to pick a card out of the deck and then place it on top. Next I "square" up the deck. Then I say something like "Well, what do you say we make this trick a little bit harder" and I proceed to take off the top card and put it on the middle of the deck letting the spectator push the card all the way into the deck. Then I say something like "As I rub my hands together, I build up static electricity that circulates through the deck. It is energizing your card as we speak and if all goes well, the charge will be so great, your card will fire out of the deck!" and the card fires out toward the spectator and Lo and behold, it's their card. (Just make sure that when you shoot the card out, it doesn't hit them in the face.) I can shoot my cards about 20 feet using the way on Ian's website and I can boomerang, but I use the boomerang and the behind the back boomerang for a different trick. If one of you already knows of a trick like this, who made it and what it's called? If no one can think of any trick like this, help me with names. Thanks and Tell me what you think of my trick.

Sounds like a cool trick. But to answer your question, that plot is not new and there are many variations in existence. (the most noticeable being Lennart Green's Top Shot effect). Sounds like your effect will be a nice kicker ending for an ambitious card routine.

Sounds like a highly energized Ambitious card effect! Pretty good for one who has just started!

Ian Rowland whose site you visited could probably give you more info. on this type of effect, he does visit the Cafe.
Your question is what is called a rhetorical question, because the first thing you said was that you'd seen something like it Nice presentation you put to it though, and it is the presentation that is all important. Here's another, say your next effect involves tearing a card, the (name the card)and have that card fly out of the deck. "Whoops, it's trying to escape!" Paul. |

UpclseNprsnl,
As has been pointed out, this effect is not new. But don't be discouraged by this. You should be proud that you're thinking along the same lines as some of the best magicians of the past. Congratualtions! Cheers, Sean Piper.
