I will say up front that I haven't bought any of the Heirloom expansions. So if this is similar to any of the ideas in there I apologize in advance. Here is my idea:
I feel like for certain venues doing the regular routine is not always the best. I think this effect could be done table hopping but the problem often is noise in the background. You don't want to have to compete with that doing a trick that is almost completely audible right up until the end. So I found a solution that makes it more visual and also has more spectator involvement. First you need to buy the 1800 series deck and mark it as follows. http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/bicycle-vi......452.html You mark it by filling the center dots with matching marker on the cards that match the pictures in Heirloom. So now you have 16 cards marked and shuffled on top of the deck. Bring the 1800 deck out explaining that your Great Uncle Charlie used card very similar to these to win or lose everything. You can show the cards face up as shuffled and for good measure you do a strattle faro shuffle and bring the original top section to the top before squaring. Now you have all the photograph cards in the every other card position in the top half of the deck. The top 32 to be exact. If you have somebody cut off about half you can patter for a bit and then have them pick up one half. Force the half you need them to use and now have them deal down and stop where ever they want. Look to see which card is marked and have them flip over the appropriate one. Play it up and reveal the correct photo. Additional ideas: You could stack the top 16 cards in a known order before doing the faro so you can get the photo out before they flip it over. This would require a bit more work (counting as they deal) but could make the effect that much stronger. Another idea is to mark the backs of the cards so you can know the identity of the card just from the back without having to count. The last idea I have which I have not explored is to stack the deck so that once you do a faro the note takes on a whole new meaning. Not only would it have it original purpose but now it could mean literally off by O** in the deck as well. This is an idea that would have to be developed as I haven't thought it all the way through. Anyway, I hope this all make sense and that somebody finds it useful. Best, Paul

I wasn't aware of these cards. they look nice and ... a nice price. That alone is worth reading your post.
They would work fine with Heirloom, good idea. Thanks. |

Harm,
I am glad you found something useful out of it. When I saw them I immediately thought of Heirloom as they look like they are possibly about as old as the photos. Best, Paul
