How are they made? I've seen several people here with avatars that change and I think I'd like to try something with my new drawing.

Thanks.

I use Paint Shop Pro 6, which comes with "Animation Shop" to make animated .gif files. An animated .gif file is made with several slightly different versions of the image, kind of like those flip card "movies".

OK, I don't have paint shop pro, so I'll have to look around and see if anything that came with the computer has that ability.

Thanks!

Just google the term "making animated gif" and you'll see lots of sites on this topic. In fact, some of them even offer free editors to allow you to make your own.

Animated Gifs were some of the first flashy images on the web that moved before there ever was a Macromedia Flash or Shockwave player.

Mandrake, Mary B. has already made one for you with blinking eyes. Check out her reply above and the attached image. The only things missing are the bouncing ball and hand. Ask nicely and she might even make the mods and give you a copy of the file or put it in as your avatar. If not, she may be able to help guide you through doing those yourself.

Thank you clynim and Mary. That was very clever.

What I wanted to do was make the ball rise up and down.

I'll get around to it some day.

Thanks again!
