Hi all,
I've been working on this little move for some time now. Would like to hear what anyone thinks of it. Thanks. http://www.sbg.bio.ic.ac.uk/people/kelley/scenic_shift.mov |

Thanks John.
Its a rather unusual method that permits the movement of a single card with almost no telling finger movement. well I like it anyway. thanks again. L |

Definitely good, and virtually silent ,as the camera was pretty sensitive to sound, I didn't hear the move... but that's not saying much I work on helicopters so... :oP...
Nice work!
...for the 51st time... that is NOT my card...

Thanks Anthony. Or would you prefer I shout in ALL CAPS?
The same move (if you skip the replacement on top) can be used to nicely palm a card into the right hand while setting down the deck. I'll do a vid of that if anyone is interested. L |

Why can't I see it? What is the format of the movie?

Quicktime. Though almost any player should play it I believe. I can convert it to something else if that's easier. Maybe try saving it to disk and then playing it.

Very nicely done! Want to tip us where we can learn it?
Best, Charles

Unfortunately nowhere at the moment. I've shown the mechanics to several knowledgeable cardmen who have told me it is 'new'. Yes that awful 3-letter word which is almost always a lie.
It is not an easy move. I'm not sure if I want to give it away yet. Thanks for asking though. Will post if I release the handling. L |

CORRECTION: After much research I have now discovered that this is essentially a subtle variation of Earnest Earick's steal and replacement to the bottom in his book By Forces Unseen.
Essentially all I've added is a replacement to the top. heheh. Proud I came up with it myself but as I predicted, it has essentially already been done. Anyway - theres the ref. |

Good work Loz, and yes, be proud you came up with it. Almost everything seems to have been done at some point, especially after magic has been around for such a long period. Plus it doesn't help when you have geniuses like Vernon and Marlo not leaving much else to be created
In any case, you came up with this independantly as to you, so that's something to be happy about. Don't shake off your subleties, you could very well have created something the originator never thougth of, with any effect or sleight. I am currently seeking credits on my material and I'm sure I'll be finding out the same things you did. Cheers, Ron |
