Oh, I might know what the Houchin effect is...when he was in the UK for a day in January I got to meet him and spend a little time with him. It was at the Session convention, and he showed everyone there his new effect project to come out...this could be it...

Oh boy...with the release of Theory 11, I think that E releases will be overshadowed by new effects from T11. Not to mention that a number of people have switched from E to T11, like Bayme and Houchin. I guess that means we're not going be seeing any future Houchin effects on Ellusionist...

E has fallen...And they will now slink away.
Andrew, (ASW)
The effects on the DVD and lecture notes are far beyond your abilities. (They require mastery of the mechanic's grip.) It would only break your heart. Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz.......(This post has got to be in my top 5.) |

Nothing wrong with new products on the market to look at and learn.
Jonxodus, I like your choice of words...healthy. Well said, brother.

I think Wayne Houchin said it best...

The bottom line here is that both sites & companies have unique products & approaches. If both companies were offering the same products - it would be a competition, but this is simply not the case. This is NOT a competition & the sooner that we all realize this, the sooner we can continue to move forward. More Magic, More Excitement. More Fun!!!

Of course Ellusionist and Theory 11 are in direct competition! Yes, superficially their products (tricks, cards etc) are different (very slightly different, IMO), but they are definitely competing for the dollars of magicians. They are both businesses, and they both need to make a profit to survive. And it seems from T11's branding and marketing, that their target market is exactly the same target market of Ellusionist.
However, as always, the competition will be beneficial for consumers (sales etc). |

It's good to have competition, though I wouldn't say they are competing on the level that some may think.
In the end we win because we'll have a larger variety of magic. I think Wayne Houchin said it right. |
