Hello I don't ask many questions here so I thought I might like to try. I'm working on an effect where a ball turns to confetti. Do you have any thoughts on a device that might hold confetti. I would love to hear back from any of you. Even if its just an idea. Thanks Alex Day

Easter eggs come in ball shape too. Try 99 cent store. Store the confetti inside the ball and when you need it, just pull the 2 halves a part.

Wrap the confetti in a little piece of tissue paper and twist the edges together. When you squeeze it, the confetti should come out and the tissue goes unnoticed.

The snowstorm confetti can be easily concealed and released whenever you want to.

Perhaps you could form a piece of tissue paper filled with confetti the size and color of your ball. Then do a switch, breaking the tissue ball and releasing the confetti.

Wow lots of good feedback. It makes me wonder what pros use. Because I know I've seen footage of a ball turning istantly to confetti but the magicians hand was empty. maybe a packet pasted to the back of the ball.

There are more than one way to achieve the same effect. You have to find the way comfortable to you.

Yes you are right. I think that some people strain to copy an effect that is more comfortable to someone else. I'm thinking manipulating confetti might be to hard. May be my perfectionist side.

Take a pill jar and put a rubber ball over the end. Elastic thru ball and attached to bottom of jar. Attach a pin so it can be placed in a secret place. During your manipulation, reach over and move the ball, which allows the confetti that you placed in it previously to be delivered to your hand.
I hope you can figure the rest out for yourself. |

Hi,
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one to find working with confetti challenging. The problem for me has always been having a reliable device that will hold it, without prematurely releasing any of the confetti too early. The other problem for me has been with the confetti "leaking" from the device or hand when you steal it. Because of the nature of confetti, the multiple pieces are hard to control. I have created many devices in the past. They all have their pros & cons. I too would be interested in hearing what others have to say about this. Thanks!

You might try filling a small blown egg (they're almost round) with confetti. In performance simply crush the egg shell> the "ball" disappears and visibly changes into confetti. The broken bits of egg shell will blend unnoticed with the falling confetti.
You start 100% clean and finish the same way! Julie |

That is a good idea, Julie. I would like to add that when the egg is shown from an angle that looks round - it will look like a ball to the audience. Just as Julie pointed that when the egg is broken, all evidence is gone.
