As I have mentioned before that I actually pulled the rabbit out of a mini top hat. I took a photo of the mini top hat I am using with those sponge rabbits.

For your viewing pleasure ...

This top hat is crafted out of polymer clay. I do a couple of appearance and vanishes with it and from it the sponge rabbit appears.

It really amazes me what amazes people. I could spend hours doing complex maneuveres with cards, coins, cups and balls, rings, etc....but the bunnies are what people enjoy seeing.

Magic Steve...used your line tonight...got a half chuckle...which is better than no chuckle at all. I still like the bit about "no rabbits were harmed in the making of this trick, but there are now two teenage foams no longer destined to be car seats." Hey...it's stock...but that gets people every time!

I also like having someone hold a rabbit in one hand and the other rabbit in the other and then making them change places. That gets a big reaction.

Maybe I should pull out the Danny Doyle book on "anything you can do I can do better" and see what other good lines I can use...you know...since I have no sense of humor! = )

I found out that they work great even with grown-ups, especially in an environment where people are in a very good mood.

Great stuff James!! Gets me thinking about other uses for all that Sculpey clay I've got laying around in the craft drawer.

The 3d bunnies are easy to do, and the reactions are over the top.

A lot of things can be done with polymer clay and for magical usages too.

God Bless you Danny.

Am I the last person alive that hates this stupid trick?

I'd rather watch a guy with a mullet do Tenyo tricks than watch sponge rabbits.

This is one of my most requested tricks FROM ADULTS! I think it's because the magic happens in their hands. The other thing is I have found is that the patter plays better for adults than kids. (I don't do the patter that's supplied)

Me personally I think the way MOST magicians present the bunny trick is as an ADULT trick.

"Here a bunny, here is another bunny put them both together and shake it shake it again ...... whoa wonder what they were doing in there!!"

It is only a few clicks away from the magic Ding Dong. That is why I created the "My Bunny Daryl" The first two bunnies are male. The third is a blow off joke and the finally well ..... lets say you won't waste $10, because you will use this trick over and over again.

It is a cute clean routine you can show grandma!!!

Very nice Idea James.

I normally wear a hat when strolling/hoping. So I do like James does... produce the sponge rabbit from my hat. Works for me.

All the best

James Tong, I have a question, does the clay hold its shape? Ive never worked with it, but maybe I've heard something about it. Is it where you mold it into the shape you want and then heat it up and then It will sort of 'cement' itself in that form for all eternity? (well, you get the point) ;-)

Obviously as Danny and Mr Bloor are alluding to, Not all tricks fit everyones style! What works like gangbusters for the family restaurant magi may fall flat for the 5-star restaurant worker. Every good trick has its venue and performer. I can't imagine Max Maven doing the bunnies in his act which would be as bad as silly billy doing serious mentalism in his. That said , Eugene burger speaks of his love/hate of the sponges. Really, it is dependent on the performer.

AnthonyMaze, The clay will hold its shape provided it is baked well in the oven. Polymer clay (baked) is quite hardy and you can have that item for all eternity as you put it.

The prolem lies in shaping them well - especially structuring the shape with enough thickness. I have tried throwing the baked mini top hats on the floor to test their durability and they don't break in pieces.

I would not say that all of them will turn out unbreakable. Its craftmanship that counts - to make them durable.

Hope this helps.

Good grief.

Next thing y'all will say is that your audiences want to see a Svengali deck. Oye!

I'd say, "You ever hear of 126th St. Barbie? Well this is her Pimp's hat and it is very magical...here watch..."

Just kidding...very creative actually.

Very creative James - setting the mood with the hat before they even see the bunnies. Thanks for sharing.

James Tong,

You know what, I was thinking oh this is going to be easy to do, but Im looking closer at that hat and I have to say, it is really well done.

Did you make this one in the picture?

Also, I tried to go to http://www.uniquemagicballs.com and I can't click on anything? Is there a secret way I should move the mouse across the screen? Is there a magical word I should be chanting? Like OoPEN SeaS A Meee?
