Are there plans available to make a table like this?

That's great idea. Looks quite simple to construct, and relatively inexpensive also.

Actually, this table packed down into a small briefcase, and when the top was lifted the center column would 'snap' into place, it worked with a series of springs, it was quite nice.
I do not think there would be an easy way to make this as the mechanics were quite complex. Sam |

I was thinking along the lines of a variation of it. I know you can get easy to fit table legs from B&Q, which have a detachable screw plate on one end. The plate attaches to the surface and the leg just screws tight up to it in seconds. I'm thinking a principle like that could be used here. You would probably have to carry the leg as an extra part as it wouldn't fit in the case, but I'm sure there's something out there that's telescopic and would do the job, a lot like the upright of a microphone stand. You can use a foldable music sheet stand as a basis.

I used to use a music stand as a table base, until I got a Eureka base. The Eureka's far more stable. But yes, something along those lines. Its just a case (pardon the pun) of adapting it to attach the the two parts of the brief case.

Actually yes, this was used on a McBride video.
I was offered this table a friend of mine, but didn't want it because it was a little too heavy for my liking. So, he sold it at KW magic (the link you provided.) I now regret turning down the offer, as it was a cool table. I know I have a video of it somewhere being setup... Let me look around and find it for you guys. Sam |

As far as I know, this table has been out of production for a few years now, it would be a slim chance of ever getting ahold of one I think.

Jeff McBride features a table like this on his stage magic video, no wheels/casters. Just shows it and opens it. As for plans, usually there are no plans for items under $1000. As for an idea how it is made, plywood, spring hindges and latches.
I think Pro-Line is still in business, why not call or write them to build you one. It looks like it is not cheap. |
