I putting together a new concept show for the Spring 2008 - when I'll make an official and grand return to performing full time.
Keeping in mind that I am a singer, and magician who plays multiple characters, what does the title FUSION say to you? Your thoughts? Ideas? |

Fusion to me implies a combination of separate things to form a whole.
It also implies smashing atoms together so they merge and release energy. (Hey, I'm a technical geek, what do you expect! ) I think it's a good word, although it doesn't say much just by itself. What you're combining is left out. That omission might be a good thing though, I don't really know. Sometimes curiosity is a good thing. I like that word. I think the general public hears that word commonly for things like, "Jazz Fusion" and they'll expect what I wrote in the first sentence above. As a disclaimer, I should point out I don't work in marketing or advertising, so I'm not sure if my opinion is worth much on this subject.
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

I too automatically think of the blending of various things.
I suppose the advertising copy can be used to greatly influence what the audience is going to expect from you. If the ads for the show mention things like music, comedy, magic then I would expect that the show be some combination of those elements etc. Your ad copy will define the concept or at the very least establish expectations in the mind of the public.

I didn't say that was or was not the title. I just asked what you thought of when you saw the word FUSION.

'Fusion' sounds as just a genre of music.

FUSION: the latest cliché.
There's now a car, the Ford Fusion, driven by a 77 year old friend of mine. By the time a company like Ford finally chooses a word to use as the name of a car, I think it's time to find a new word. . .

Fusion is what the sun does. I think of the sun and its process. Fusion is just out of our grasp. We understand what it is, but be darned if we can accomplish it ourselves.

Sorry for the conFUSION but: "When the "fusion" reaction is a sustained uncontrolled chain, it can result in a thermonuclear explosion, such as that which powers the hydrogen bomb." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_fusion

Fusion is slamming two atoms together hard enough that they'll combine at their nucleii and create different element. i.e. two hydrogen atoms with one proton each in their nucleii slam together, resulting in a thermonuclear explosion, releasing tremendous amounts of energy, and create a helium atom with two protons at the center as a result. And Helium is fun.
Fission, on the other hand, is the thermonuclear explosion which powers the hydrogen bomb and, at low levels, thermonuclear reactor power plants. Radioactive material reaches critical mass and breaks apart (not fuses together), again releasing tremendous amounts of energy and a lot of messy radioactive byproducts. While they both generate wild amounts of energy, their processes work in opposite directions. Fission is messy, deadly, and requires eons to clean up. Fusion is sun-like, warm, life-giving, and a fantasy as far as we are concerned. We can get on or two atoms to go together, but we aren't able to sustain the reaction. Alas, and alack.

Totally off-topic, but I'd pay good money to see a trick using spray cans of cheese product.
Fusion sounds alright. |
