Fellow Members of the FCM,
I would like for you to write in and place me on the ballot to be your next president of the FCM. If you want some new ideas from a somewhat younger president who will listen to your ideas and make the FCM into a whole not a CLIQUE then send my name in to be placed for nomination for your next president. Short Bio: I have been involved with Gospel Magic and Business for over 24 years. I am 41 years old, Married, and I love GOD with all my heart. I am a good business person, well organized, have fresh new ideas, and can travel. VOTE me in for your next president Please send my name into the FCM home office: Rodney Palmer Port Huron, Michigan

You mean the FCM is a clique too? Is there any organization that isn't a clique? I am getting tired of such stuff!
Thanks, Brett Bensley |

Hey Rodney,
Are you sure you want to pursue this tactic? What you are asking for is akin to the local dog catcher stumping to be prez of the US. Gotta pay some organizational dues first, my friend. Work your way up from Mayor to Governor to Senator, etc. Have you ever formed a local chapter or served as a leader in one? Have you served in any capacity at a regional or international conference? Ever taught a workshop at FCM or performed on the Late Night or Grand Evening Show? Ever written an article or contributed to the Conjurer? Ever even posted at the fcm.org forums? Etcetera. If you have ever served our organization in any of these humbler ways, then I apologize. If you have not, then I think you presume too much by wanting to start at the top. This is not a bash. You might make a fine president. But I think you misunderstand the typical process of going from Dog Catcher to Big Dog. Trying to engineer a coup like this is a bit "bull-in-a-china-shop" - it is likely to push people away from you - not toward you. Instead, why not offer your leadership skills to those already in power? You can effect a lot of change by simply acting as a servant/consultant. Jesus showed us the way with basin and towel. If people begin to experience your bio and see you as "all that and a bag of tricks" you will rise through the ranks in due time. For what it's worth, Kerry

Kerry, I really respect your opinion and I have served the FCM in many ways here in Michigan. I also am a leader and I have been involved with putting on many Grand Evening Shows not for the FCM but other organizations. I do not need to take credit for other activities. I am a GOOD leader and have been a leader all of my life and people will follow. It is how you direct them, teach them. I believe in a TEAM aspect of business. Together Everyone Achieves More. In my personal life beyond magic I have turned businesses around and made them profitable. The FCM is a business as well as a Ministry. In order to move forward and succeed you must have Good Leadership. I personally do not feel that the FCM has good leadership at this point. I for one would like to change that and YES I know some feathers will be ruffled, but it needs to be done. And I do believe I can and will successfully lead the FCM into the next level that God has in store for the ministry.

So can you tell us what is wrong with the FCM now?
What would you change to make it better and why?

Hey Rodney,
It seems wise to echo Daniel's question. You are asking for people to vote for an unknown platform. Please share with us your planks - what is your comprehensive vision? What would you do for the FCM as President? We expect that kind of candor from political candidates during the election season debates. Here's your chance to share this important information. Cheerio, Kerry

I don;t want to be prez or anything like that. At least not now I am new. But I do want to be involved in some shape or form. Is there anything I can do to be useful to the FCM? I really feel like God is calling me to do gospel magic for children. And maybe some stuff for the adults if the interest level is high enough but I think my calling is finally coming to me after 30 years

M15d1r3ct10n, (or may I call you C3PO or R2D2)...lol
I would suggest going to the FCM forum now at http://www.fcm.org then click on member login and share some routines or ideas that you have for Gospel magic on that forum. That would be a first start, then as people read your posts, who knows what might open up to you.. Terry |

Terry thanks! I will go do that. I really want to do waht I can to help. But anyway I don't know if anyone caught my name. I think it is kind of clever. But it is misdirection using leet or should I say l33t language. What can I day I am a computer nerd and a magician. no wonder why I got picked on in highschool. LOL

"What A Fellowship" by Stan Adair & Steve Varro is an interesting read. I have enjoyed reading about our "roots", "branches" and "leaves".

Kerry, Absolutley NOT!!!!! I feel that I have a lot to offer the FCM and am looking forward to being their next President. I have many GREAT Ideas that I will not discuss in an open Forum such as the Café'. We can talk through Phone, E-mail, etc. But not on the Café'.

What channel will carry the debates?

Cool. I understand. How about keeping the discussion confined to the FCM Forum pages at http://www.fcm.org? They can only be seen by registered FCM members. Seems like an ideal [not open] location for this discussion to continue.
Whatcha think?

The FCM has never been a political or denominational organization, I hope it never becomes one. I have encouraged many people to get involved in the FCM international convention and then get involved in leadership positions. But to start out as president is not only detrimental to you, it may also be detrimental to the organization.
Rodney: I've been on the board since 1990, and during those 17 years, I do not recall you being a part of the staff at the convention nor to I recall you asking to serve on any level of leadership. Now you want to be the President? That's a huge undertaking. I encourage you to be involved but would advise you to start at some other level. Maybe a lecture chairman, or officer in the Michigan FCM. BTW have you ever performed or lectured at the FCM International? In HIS service, Steve Varro
STILL In HIS service
