Professor Bob would stay up till late at night brewing up gallons of green slime. He would give each kid a wade of it to take home to show their parents. Does anyone here have the recepe for green slime?

Are you talking about a colloidal suspension? Flour, water and a little green food coloring if I recall correctly.

this stuff had the consistency of nasal emissions, which is why they color it green, and when you stirred it up it hardened into a squishy transparrent green ball. Kids go crazy over it, it is disgusting looking, and it sticks together so you can't make a mess with it.

Yea the stuff they used on Nicholodean. Professor Bob used to cook it up on his stove in big pots. If no one here knows the recepe for it I'll call Bob. It's just that a quick call to Bob could last several hours.

Yea that is the stuff, and Bob would add the desolved borax at the last minute, because after you add the borax liquid to the glue it would harden in a couple minutes.

I have done this hundreds of times for kids, several times I did it with over 200 kids at once. . .

What I do is get a bunch of 3 oz dixie cups, white glue, borax, craft sticks, zip lock bags, and food coloring.

Gallon jug (A) contains 1/3 water + 2/3 white glue + a spoonfull of food coloring

Gallon jug (B) one cup of borax and fill it up with water shake it well you should end up with some borax on the bottom that does not desolve

Each kid gets:

1/2 a dixie cup of the stuff from jug A
1/2 a dixie cup of the stuff from jug B
one zip lock bag
one craft stick
one paper napkin

"Okay everybody are you ready? . . . . good. . . pick up your wood stick and drip it into the cup with the glue, then take it out and dip it in the other cup, then back and forth over and over again. . . "

The kids will end up with big green (or any other color) snotty looking stands of perfect looking green goo hanging from their craft sticks.

When the kids are done have them put the goo into the zip lock bag so that they can take it home.

Just pouring the two solutions together rarely works well and it not nearly as much fun.

OK thanks Tim
Professor Bob had two recepes for slime, one with glue, and one with something else, they both used borax for the chemical reaction, and I believe it was cheaper than the glue recepe. Who can answer that trivia question?

Another thing Bob did was instead of dixie cupa he would mix the two ingredeance into a two ounce plastic container with a lid, then he put each kid's name on the top of their own container with a sharpie so they could take it home and show their parents.

That other mixture is borax and polyvinyl alcohol, which is what the slime that you buy at the store is made from.

I was the The Science Guy for the Discovery Center Science Center in Fresno for 5 years. . . I must have done over 3000 science shows and at least 50 huge mall events.

Yes, and remember, not all white glue is really white glue. Plain ole fashion elmers white glue-all always worked well for me with this.

If you add powdered cord starch, it gets more like silly putty, and takes on a rather fun consistency.

Years ago, I did "Inner Child Parties" for adults and my appartment at the time was fondly referred to as the Nichelodian test Kitchen. Somewhere I have recipes for home made silly putty, finger paint, play dough and a modelling compound we fondly referred to as "Gumdrop Glop."

I'll see if I can find some of our old recipes and share.

You are right, and you are wrong apple sauce with green food coloring may be TV slime, but what we are talking about is giving each kid with a cup and stick. You then pour in some green liquid into the cup. Then you add the hardening liquid tell the kid to stir, and within seconds it becomes green slime, then it turns into a rubbery blob to take home to show mom and dad.
