I've just come across a review AOA 1-3. They sound amazing.
I wasn't clear about the level of the material. Really what I'm asking is are they a viable alternative to say The Wilson Magic Coiurse or best for seasoned magi? Thanks

The AOA books are not a basic course like Wilson's. Although there are a few easy to do tricks in it, these books are for the intermediate and advanced magician.
If you want to learn the basics of magic, I would recommend the Wilson course. |

Some terms used in the book require that you know magic first. Other tricks are easy to do right off the bat.

AOE are great books with lots of interesting ideas. They are not really something that teaches you the basics and works your way up to the hard stuff.

This is a really great series!
About 10-20% are at a beginner level, however the beginner should be familiar with magic and presentation. Mostly this level is for the practicing beginner. About 40-60% is for the practicing intermediate. These are great tricks with really great impact! Paul explain on how to do them to get the most impact. Finally, about 20% are for the advanced level. This is not Ortiz level advanced as his stuff is terrifying, but anyone will need to practice them to pull off. This is an outstanding series and would make a fine addtion to any serious magicians library. Caveat - this is not really a reference series, but are established effects. By a reference series I mean somewhere you can go to lookup how to do a variation of trick. |

If you're a magician you have to get these books sooner or later. It's the law. I wish I'd gotten them sooner. Everything I know about magic can be found in them.

Art of Astonishment, Paul Harris
I have to guess that some are incorrectly typing AOE when it should be AOA. fatfingers |
