A few years back I heard about a tire pressure gage that could be controlled.(never saw one..just read about it..seems like Doc Eason may have had them on his email list a few years back)

Yesterday while getting a new battery for my wife I noticed a tool with a half tire gage on one end and screw driver on the other..Push on the tire gage end and the screw driver popped out. More importantly if you push on the screw driver end the tire gage measuring tool pops into view...

Yes I did ask where one could get one. The wise sales person gave it to me on the spot..By the way it is not a screw driver holder it is used to measure tire tread wear...

Haven't had it long enough to come up with schtick but will play with it this weekend...

Any ideas to contribute to my journey?

HI Harris,

By pure coincidence, I have been planning to post my Doc Eason Comedy Tire Pressure Gauge for sale on the Café.

I will likely do this by tomorrow at latest.

In the meantime, should anyone have any questions or serious interest in this item, please feel free to send me a PM.

Knowing the creative , fun-type you are Harris, I am certain that you will come up with ideas for this great acomedy gimmick/sight sight gag.

I bought my Tire Gauge directly from Doc Eason about 8 years ago, following one of his live lectures. Sadly, it has sat on the shelf since --though it is in perfect "like new" condition.

I am quite certian that he no longer sells this particular item, at least not on his site.
I recall him saying the were carefull constructed using "real" heavy duty pressusre gauges, and that he had a hard time finding compentent manufactureres whenrever stock ran out.

The way I had planned to work it into my comedy persona was as follows:

In the middle of one of my close-up/mingling magic routines, I would suddenly look one of my spectators directly in the eye and say to him...

"Something doesn't seem to be just right... check something". Make a muscle (as I say this to the "volunteer", I touch his arm to assist, and encourage, him to bend his arm into the "muscle-making" position, then I would squeeze his "big" muscle gingerly with my fingers and shake my head from left to right in deep dismay...

At this point, I woudl display my silver (authentic) pressure gauge and hold it up high in "freeze-fram" mode, so that everyone has a few (long) seconds to see it and understand exactly what it is. Then, I would proceed to press the "mouth" of the pressure gauge (ever so gently) against the volunteer's muscle (that is covered beneath his shirt-sleeve), and as soon as the pressure stick "jumps out", I would quickly nod my head up and down, and commment..."Yep, seems you're under a lot of pressure these days!".

The laughts (in all likelihood would come fast, in response to the quirkiness of this strange but funny (and highly visual) comedy gag.

What do you think???

Hope the above helps to generate some of your own playful ideas Harris. Feel free to try as much or as little of the above routining as you desire. If you do try it put, thoguh, please let em know the response.

With best regards.

After some initial waffling, I have decide (thanks to some very sage advice from a fellow Café member in the know) to not only keep my Doc Eason Pressure Gauge, but to keep it off the shelf and in good use.

Please note that these items are so well crafted (not manufactured en masse), and so hard to come by.

Their potential to generate laughs is great (--but not when the are lying on the shelf! lol

And so, I will start using mine in performance tomorrow night.

Many thanks Doc!

Enjoy! I love to bring things off the shelf and up from the magic dungeon.

What brought me to buy them needs to come to light....Over the years my purchases have slowed down and taking a look at older props increased.

I got to see Doc E in person a few times in the 03-05. Took advantage of a critique/feedback session with him.

Be safe, well and creative.

Lot's of fun and lots of laughs. Very interactive and very effective --even "without" speaking.

Great sight Gag.

Thanks Doc!

I have been using the tool/prop over the years. Lately haven't been and will have to look through the drawers and bags...or go over to a tire place.

I used it to measure things from "hair" to laughs.

Check the pressure, the gauge stick pops out, you check the pressure and say..........

Pressures Good, But your a quart low.

Is this the one you guys are talking about?
