Hi,
Could someone please direct me to a source, book or DVD, for an Alien? I'd like to learn several variations. Thanks, Ryan

Ryan,
When I need to learn some new design, the first place I go is BalloonHQ as Mark suggests. If you are a member, you can do an advanced search and find a wealth of information and ideas. The second place I look is MBD2.com. If you make a donation, you get access to their instructions area. Again, a wealth of information. Dale at MBD2.com and the folks at BalloonHQ provide the balloon world with a great resource of information. Don Caldwell's Mad Hatz and Wild Wearables vol. 1 has an awesome alien on it. The alien is sporting a ray gun and is standing on a ringed planet. It is also a hat. You can leave it off the hat and not make the planet or ray gun, and you still have a pretty cool alien. If you look at Don's portfolio on BalloonHQ, you can see the sculpture. For all of you that already know how to make an alien and still have read this post this far, here is a neat thing that you can do with an alien with a clear 5" round for a helmet. Before you blow up the double stuffed head (5" alien head stuffed in a clear 5" round) put a penny in the alien head. Inflate the clear 5" round just slightly more than the alien head. Don't tie the alien head and clear together. Tie the alien head and cut off the nozzle just above the knot. Now tie the clear 5" round and attach the alien head to the alien's body. If you rotate the alien horizontally in a tight circle, the alien head will turn around like (sorry, can't think of a better analogy) the little girl in the Exorcist. The penny provides just the right amount of weight to cause the balloon to spin. Steve |
