For under $50.00, Skinner's 3 Card Monte, and the neglected Anniversary Waltz, which could be the most commercial card trick there is. Do this at a wedding or for a couple and they'll remember you forever. But I think I get the most intense responses from Bill in Lemon.
Final Flashback is wonderful for mentalism or mental magic, and Wellington's guillotine is utterly deceptive, original and a steal at its price. |

The most "bang for the buck" that I have gotten on all of my platform shows has been the "Al Baker Diminishing Cards."

Color Monte is a great payoff for what it is. I also love David Roth's Eraser Coin.

STUCK! $9.95 (And you'll need any quarter . . .)
I usually leave my house with either NO magic, or just a deck of cards. With my impromptu routine I can entertain for a very long time. Greg Rostami |

I found Wing It is the best bang in kids shows. The kids go crazy making the animal sounds. I started doing this after doing Farmyard Frolics back years ago and it is no longer available.

The best props for the value I have found are:
* Stealth Assassin Wallet (love it!) * MOAB and Insight Book Tests (and for less money, the original "Flashback" test by Becker) * TK Timber or Banachek's PK Pen * Quantum Bender 2.0 (pricey, but worth every bent cent and more!!!) * Anything by Outlaw, ESPECIALLY "The Relic". Superb! * IT and Loops I don't use many props or gaffs, but the above are the best I have found and will use in my work. For the least amount of money - a deck of cards, some pens/pencils/marker, a stack of 3X5 index cards, an envelope or two and perhaps a rubber band or magazine. Best, Jerome

Agree with Jerome about Stealth Assassin. It is a GREAT addition to my 'keep' shelf. Worth every penny!
If I don't have this at hand, the OTHER 'best'(simpler design) prop of it's type is Evildan's Leather Dungeon product 'PJ' Wallet. Business card holder/ small wallet that can do two of the best peeks; one doesn't require you to go back into the wallet. Almost always in my shirt pocket. So far, Quantum Bender 2 will likely go onto that 'keep' shelf; more research/ (performances) required, but it's presently stunning people into total brain freeze. Osterlind's SOS bag is something I always have in my larger carry-bag. It's a short act all by itself. LOOPS for a PK Touches type effect. Ne Plus Ultra for the most astonishingly believable example of 'REAL' ESP when I'm someplace that I can logically reach for a book - or three. ANYthing by Doug Higley! His Demented All Seeing Eye is making the impressionable young lovelies scream and their macho dates go silent and take a step backwards. It's been a very good year for Good Stuff! Brane |

As much as I hate to admit it, sponge balls. I could do the most amazing card trick the world has ever known but everyone always wants to see the sponge balls again.
I'll tell you what: $5.00 for a good set of sponge balls. + $12.50 for Pat Page's Sponge Ball video. = Amazind entertainment for $17.50! Even with tax, that should be less than $20.
