I had an old cement mixer with no drive pulley or motor on it that sat for 4 years on the back of my property. This weekend, we needed it for a project I was doing on the home. My buddy said, "How are you going to power it?"
I went into my sheds and searched for about 10 minutes, coming out with a pulley, a belt, and the motor I used to power my model oil well display. Then, took another 10 minutes to hook them up to the old mixer. With a little grease to the bearings and gears, it was up and running great. This wasn't planned or having the parts ready in advance for the mixer project. Collecting many things comes in handy to build something, or getting a job finished. Anyone have any ideas for a magic gimmick that can be built? I wouldn't have any trouble coming up with the parts needed. I have constructed several small gimmicked tricks from ideas I've seen on the internet, books, and videos. Being creative in anything is an art, especially when you can do well in it like the professional magicians you see in the media. Keep up the good work, people.

Those spare parts and accessories come in handy, don't they?

Yes, they do, James. Saving many things is very handy for usefulness, and fun. My hobby of building things mirrors a TV show called "Junkyard Wars", where they build things from old machinery at a salvage yard. Many farmers do the same thing so they can repair their machinery without having to visit repair shops. The Amish community is really good at fixing and maintaining their equipment also.
