Hi!
Who has it? In what distinction? How well it is looked and works? 1. http://www.tilfordillusions.com/prohoop.html 2. http://www.stevensmagic.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=9443 |

Good Question Alex,
I have never known anyone who purchased one. Hopefully someone will chime in with experience. (Someone other than a person who sells them..LOL ) The gimmick seems a bit small in this hoop. I'd like something a bit larger to feel safe. They say they have custom sizes in gimmicks so maybe this isn't a problem. It looks good and sturdy but I don't really like the two hand handling to work with the gimmick. I just watched the video of it and you can see the "move". The Blaney Great White Hoop uses a one handed handling. Best, Tim |

My friend told me he seen one. He told me you have to look real close where to pick it up.

I agree with Timothy, I would go with the one hand operation of the Blaney hoop..the last time I've seen one, it was very smooth in operation.

Maybe it helps to point out that these are 2 different hoops (both in size and workings):
One is made by proline, the other by Auke Van Dokkum. I agree that the Blaney version (both version) are still the best ! |

I'm not so sure it takes two hands to operate the Pro Hoop. It looks like he may have picked it up in the wrong spot on the video.

Jim Gerrish includes a Dollar Store Hula Hoop version in his PVC Pipe Illusion Book 3 (on my site), and has worked out a one-handed handling method for it. I'll make it available for anyone who has purchased the PVC Pile Levitation? article and hasn't figured it out for themselves. Actually, if you get one and make one and work with it a bit, it becomes obvious.

I use the pro-hoop and yes, it does require two hands to use. I have been very happy with it so far. I have not gotten a chance to handle either of the Blaney hoops but I have been told they are great to work with. I went with the pro-hoop for budgetary reasons (could not justify the money for the Blaney metal hoop)and have been very satisfied for the amount of money spent. I am sure the white Blaney hoop is a great product...but I feel a metal hoop is more convincing to the audience. Just my two cents.

Hi All,
I try to never chime in here but since there is a bit of confussion, I will. I've offered my PRO Hoop for about 3 years now. Almost all of my products incorporate the "PRO" in the title for obvious reasons. The Pro Hoop offered by Stevens is indeed NOT mine, so the above poster is correct. My hoop requires 2 hands only at the conclusion. This is accomplished very easily and indiscretely as the hoop is being displayed. There is a subtle move I reccommend that allows you to freely show the hoop while the gimmick is still activated. It can be activated with one hand only. Also, with my PRO Hoop, you can move the hoop across the body of the girl while only holding it with one finger and your palm outstreched. A move that is impossible to do with the Blaney metal hoop. So each has different pluses/minuses. I hope this clears things up. Thanks to all. Cliff Wiggs PROline Magic |

Hey Guys...I'll chime in on this...
I have used a custom set of the PRO Rings for almost a year now and have been very pleased with the quality. Based on that I decided to purchase the PRO Hoop for my suspension. Having used the PRO Hoop in the real world I can definitely recommend it. I have handled BOTH the Blaney hoops and I think they are both amazing props. The PRO hoop can be opened with one hand...and held with one finger during the 'pass'...but you will need two hands to close it. I do not find this to be a problem or even an issue. After the pass I use a linking ring display to apparently show the hoop all over...in this action the hoop is locked and be freely shown...I actually like this display very much. In the end it all depends on your budget for the prop...I personally am very happy with the PRO Hoop. I hope this helps, Cody S. Fisher

This thread proved very helpful when looking to purchase a hoop for the Brett Daniels lev.
Have just received my Pro Hoop from the UPS man and had to say how great it was. I have handled and used a Blaney Hoop before and was terrified of damaging it. For most levs, the differences in the handling between the Blaney Silver Hoop and the Pro Hoop are so minor that a lay person would not notice. The Pro Hoop is a fraction of the cost and seems much more robust. For my purposes it will do the job perfectly. regards Scott |

This thread has already been very helpful. Since 2012 is there anyone else who has used the pro-line hoop that offers other thoughts regarding pro-line vs. blaney?

I have never handled the pro-line hoop, but I owned a Blaney Great White Hoop for years and never had any issues with the one hand method.
