This is really good! Please do not reveal the contents of this manuscript to anyone as this effect is being performed by many well known magicians. You can do this UNBELIEVABLE trick EASILY!! The performer shuffles a borrowed deck of cards, cuts the pack into 4 or 5 sections, and hands them out to spectators for shuffling. When the shuffling is complete a spectator gathers the shuffled sections together and reassembles the pack. This done the spectator deals himself 8 cards face down. The performer is nowhere near the cards. The spectator fans the cards towards himself. Emphasizing again that the cards were shuffled by the audience members themselves the performer proceeds to name one at a time ALL 8 CARDS THAT THE SPECTATOR IS HOLDING! After handing out the cards, you positively do not touch them again. No cards added or removed from the deck, secretly or otherwise. No stooges. The cards are genuinely shuffled. No special skill needed. No palming. Difficulty: Easy/Medium Practice Time: About 2 hours Angles: Sorrounded Examinable: Yes Psychic Forces is one of the BEST card tricks ever created in my opinion. You can use any deck of cards and still perform this great trick. There is a little set-up of course and a little preperation but that's minor. The booklet gives you three methods to do this special set-up but you can make up your own. After the set-up you shuffle the cards and cut the deck into five or four piles. You then give each of this pile to four or five specs for shuffling. After giving them the piles you never get to touch the deck again, much like the four ace tricks. You turn your back around and wait for them to get done shuffling (you can also be blind folded). After they're done, you instruct one of your audience to gather up each pile. He then lays eight cards face down on the table. Without you turning around (or taking off your blindfold), you can announced every single one of those 8 cards on the table! Every eight cards at the end of the routine can be different. The only negative point I find on this trick is that it requires four or more spectators. That's pretty much it. It also take guts the first time you try it, because one simple mistake could ruin the whole routine. The great thing about this trick is that you can add so much misdirection and patter that completely makes the effect even more astonishing. A simple misdirection at the end will fry your magician friends and devastate lay people. They won't have a single clue how you did it

Hmm..... This reminds me of a trick I saw at my local magic shop. I believe it was credited to Max Maven.
After performing it (if it truly is the same method, I believe it to be, just because the steps sound the same), it is pretty good. I'd ask around what the setup for this trick is, for the method it requires you to do a complete deck stack (looks random) before any shuffling and you truly can give it a good riffle shuffle. You could probably have a spec do the riffle shuffle, but I've had 1 spec mess up the trick with a badly botched shuffle that had cards fly everywhere! Just another thing, does the spectator have to pick up the 4/5 piles in order? Can you glimpse what the packet order is when they pick them back up? |

It reminds me of an effect from the Cabaret Lecture notes from Dan Tong. The method is probably the same -- excellent effect! It stuns audiences!

The version I know doesn't use a complete deck stack. It's covered as a phase of either Psi-Clops or its predecessor in the Brobdignagian Book of Becker (okay, that's not the real name, but it's what I call it).
Yes, it's a strong effect, although instead of mentally receiving eight cards, I use only five (pacing is everything) and have one of the cards placed in the spectator's pocket, face unseen, so that even he doesn't know what it is. Then have him concentrate on the faces of the other four while your back is turned. Telepathically receive those thoughts, then cap it with the clairvoyant ascertainment of the card in his pocket -- a card not even he knows the identity of. Much stronger, in my opinion. (How to discern which card he'll pocket? If you've ever worked with a Bagshawe deck, then you already know.)

Sounds like a great effect, Outlawz. Where can I buy it or what book can I find it in?

magicman2000,
There's a link at the bottom of the dealer blurb in the first post.
