For the 18 to 20-something party hoppers, generally, though it could be humorous at an older age and mystifying at a younger one.
Tired of being drown out at loud parties when you're doing walk-around? Want to mess with the CEO or birthday person a bit? Record all your patter for your trick into a tape, cd, or mp3 form. Put them in your player, and carry headphones and your player with you. Have the patter readily playable as you walk around. You could pantomime to a person if they're willing to put the headphones on, or simply ask if they would like to see some magic and tell them to please put the headphones in/on. Before you dismiss as anything or this or that, think of the possibility of having a crowd around and having either dual-reality speech going on b/t you and the helper vs. you and the crowd. Really would help with your stuttering problems, forgetting patter, etc., and could have implanted misdirection/gags. "I'm going to do the magic move now... Is there a cow behind you? Just kidding" - and now on this natural offbeat do "the move", etc. I don't know, the idea just know struck me, and I'll be back to salvage it a bit with fresh ideas that've gotten enough sleep on them... |

I have never liked places where I can’t hear myself think and world in general seems to have got noisier. I’m not sure I’m struck with your solution to noise but I can’t really picture it. Have you tested it on anyone at all?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

If only that one person can hear the patter and you can't, how could you possibly accurately time the moves and segments of your act to the patter? It seems to me it would be like watching a movie or TV show where the soundtrack is off--distracting and annoying rather than entertaining.

Sounds good in theory. Not sure how well it would actually play out. The main problem I see with it is it does not allow for any interaction with the person you who you are playing.
