Yes...The original alien was the best, no question.
But I do so love the carnage. I wouldn't consider any of the Alien movies past the first to be horror (None of the Predator were ever horror), but it is decent sci fi/action. Really I feel that the Alien movies just changed genre.

DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics actually worked together and gave us a "Batman vs. Preditor" comic. It did so well, they did a sequel.
