Hi there guys and gals,

I have a little conundrum that I feel you may be able to help out with.

A friend of mine who runs circus skills workshops here in the UK is currently looking for an impossible bike (at least I think its called that anyway).

Basically its a normal bike with just one difference, if you turn the handlebars right the wheel turns left... and obviously if you turn left the wheel turns right.

He's been looking for one for quite some time now and has only discovered old, worn out bikes that would be great as collectors items but not really suitable for adding to a children's workshop.

He already uses mini bikes, bi-clown-bikes, bikes and unicycles with a wonkey wheel etc.... and really wants the impossible bike to add to the others.

I should also point out he's tried Roger at Unicycle.uk.com, which for things like that available in the UK he usually is the man to ask, but his reply was simply "if you find one please let me know because other people have also asked about them".

So it looks like we're going to have to look overseas, which is where you guys come in Smile

If you have one yourself and want to sell it, or if you know someone who makes them please do drop me a PM.

Thanks for your help,

Ros

If I needed a custom unicycle or bicycle, I would talk to Tom Miller of the Unicycle Factory. All of his work is custom stuff. See:

http://www.tux.org/~bagleyd/unicycle_factory/

That is all of his web-presence as Tom himself is a little old-school and does not have a computer. Call him for more information.

Roslyn,

I was given my unrideable bike by Circus Kevin. That might be his name on here. Try contacting him as he knows how to get hold of lots of stuff.

Nigel

Still can't ride it.

Hi Cap'n Mike, thanks for the link I'll check it out.

Nigel thanks for getting back to me, would Circus Kevin be Kevin Row from Birmingham?? If so I can drop him an email.

If anyone else has any suggestions they will be greatfully received Smile

Hi there,

Does anybody have any links to some video footage of one of these bikes? Or any funny clown bikes for that matter? On youtube maybe? Just wandering out of interest.

Take care and God bless!

Roslyn,

Yes it is Kevin Rowe. A much misunderstood man.

But would you really want to understand him?

In all seriousness I've never had any beef with Kevin, he's always been more than plesent towards me.

Sadly, he has about as much of an idea where to get these bikes as the rest of us.

I agree that Kevin is a fine person. Looking at my bike it doesn't look like it would be very difficult for anybody with a bit of welding ability and an old bike they don't mind cutting up. Basically it's two gears in a box. The box holds the handle bars on to the steering column and the gears change the direction.

There was a small feature in Make Magazine with the exposed guts of one of the unridable bikes.

Nigel,

Any chance you could send me some pictures of the exposed gears of your bike?

My father is a fabrication welder so if he has a picture or two of what it is that makes these work maybe I could get him to produce one for me??
