Hey everyone,
Just thought I would share a fantastic review that was written up about my recent performance at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta, NY. You can view the full article at: http://www.BrianMillerMagic.com/MediaPage.html For the sake of simplicity though, I will quote the portion written about my show: "Brian Miller, originally from Buffalo, started doing magic tricks at the age of four after finding a boxful of magician’s materials that had belonged to his father. He tried a precocious hand and was irrevocably hooked. At the age of 16 he was admitted to the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Mozart started writing music at the age of four, inspired by his father, and he was also doing some pretty impressive things at 16, all of which seemed an interesting parallel, but really, how far was I going to push the comparison? Brian Miller gave an evening of magic at the Foothills Performing Arts Center on Friday September 21st. He was not Mozart. Of course he wasn’t. There will only ever be one Mozart, just as there will only ever be one Shakespeare, one van Gogh, one James Fenimore Cooper, one Cal Ripken. Brian Miller was, however, singularly entertaining and masterfully poised and in control of his material and improvised patter. There was never a lull in the unfolding of his presentation, which included card tricks, and disappearing egg tricks, some mentalism, sleights of hand with a valuable ring, pretty standard reliable fare. But there was nothing standard about the way he held the audience’s attention. There was charm, humor, ease, and pretty nearly everything he performed elicited gasps of wonder, from children as well as from even the most jaded and cynical adults. It’s safe to say that there will only ever be one Brian Miller. A return engagement is planned for next spring. Don’t miss it." Thanks for reading, Brian |

Way to go Brian! That's a fantastic review.
I hope you frame the article and put it on the wall in your magic room. You'll enjoy seeing it again and again and again...It's nice to save things like that. Mark. |

Thank you very much for your comments everyone. Mark, I surely intend on framing a hardcopy of the article and hanging it up. Richard Lyn, I hope you are correct. What was special to me about this show is that I've been performing this "Comedy, Mentalism, Magic" show as it is for two full years, and this performance at Foothills PAC is the last time I will ever be performing it as it was. I have been creating a new show for a few months which is set to debut in 2008, and actually the very first performance of it will take place at Foothills, so it is just a very cool feeling. The new show is designed around a very specific theme/concept, but I'm not going to give that away just yet.
EDIT: Incidentally I have complied a video montage of clips from the show which can be seen on my myspace (there is a link in my signature). Enjoy! |
