I`m searching for a great end for my manipulation act!
Starting with cane to silk, then silk over hand to cards, card act, then card to ball, then multiplaing balls! At the end I`ve 2 balls (one with a shell on it) in my right hand, then I take a third one out of my left pocket, take it with the right, so a shake and I`ve 4 balls in my right hand! But that's no flashing end! Do you have any ideas? As I reach in my left pockt with my left hand to take the third ball, I could palm any other thing too! But I`ve no idea what! I would love to disappear the balls to anything else, but that's too hard I think! It would reach to still hold the balls in my right and produce something in my left! Hope to get some ideas! chris |

Good ideas but too common place I feel. Place your thinking cap on and be creative. Look outward and away from magic for your creative ideas for your manipulative acts. There is so much out there that has not been done before that is just waiting to be discovered and created.
Chris: Can you tell me a bit more about your character on stage? Who are you when you perform and what is your style? What is the style of music and the pace of the act? Answers to these questions can help determine what might be the best way to end the act and have it reflect back on your character and overall presence of the act. What I mean by the above is to define for us who you are and what the audience really sees. Not so much what magic they see but how do they see the overall act. Are you slow and suave and graceful in motion and character like a Lance Burton? Or are you more fast paced and "in your face" like a jeff McBride? Or are you neither of these but more of a comical style and the manipulation happens without you really knowing it.. like Cardini? Defining this will help give you the possible right answer that best works for you. I look forward to hearing back from you and offering up some ideas. My pleasure. Kyle

Hello thanks allot!
I´m doing manipulation since about 2 years, so I`m not a newbie, but definitly not a pro! A have never been on stage, I´m doing it only for me, or friends, family or youtube *lol* Maybe in a few years I`ll be on stage! My character is smooth and quit, cool, not much emotion!Im doing it like I learned it!step by step! Úntil now Ive only done card manipulation, but since a few months Im also interessted in ball manipulation and now I wanna mix it up and change things like card to ball! And I ve read that it is very important to do a flashy great beginn and end so I'm searching for this things to add on the beginning and on the end!! My Music is more like enya or enigma,..not that slow but instrumental and continuously! sorry for my english, Im german guy! |

Just an idea here...
If you end up with a sh*** and a ball in your right hand, you can apparently place a ball onto your left hand, then toss the ball from your right hand up and it vanishes, again toss the apparent ball from your left hand up and it becomes a cane... end of routine. |

James have a pont.
I suggest you to make a finish with some confeti or even with the throwing streamer. Expl: Toss the ball in the air it vanishes and become confeti, and you take your final pose. Or in the end make a fals ball tran**** from one hand to another and throw the streamer to the audience. Just try one of these and see for your self! |

What about that:
three bals and a sh... in my right hand at the end, then throw one ball in the air, catch with left, obvious in my pocket, again with a second one, by giving in pocket, palm appearing cane, then "throw" the sh... and the cane appear, so I ve one ball with a sh.. on it in my right and a cane in my left hand!END |

End it with a large multi-colored silk made from several smaller ones.

Chris that is cool!
Very similar for my competition routine, But in the end when the cane appears I throw the kabuki streamers! ""(By the way my cane appears from one card!)"" Good Luck! P.S. When and where will be your competition? |

With your body slightly turned, let your left hand cane appears and during that time the right hand ditch the other ball with s**** and steal another cane.
After showing the cane, tap it on the right hand and another appears. To the audience the ball became another cane. Just an idea you can play with again. |

Chris,
You can end your manipulation act with snowstorm, ball to cpnfetti, climax balls or ball to silk. These are the strongest moves that I know for end of the manipulation routine. magicially yours, Nedim Guzel |

It would better serve our common passion for manipulations by coming up with something unique. When first starting out it's okay to perform the tried & true. But, thinking away from the norm is what makes magic exciting. I can't tell you how excited I was when Lance used a mylar coil for his zombie finish, how Paul Gertner refreshed cups & balls using ball bearings, or how Teller knocked my socks off with his rose bit. Great magicians are superb at taking a simple idea from another effect and using it to strengthen their magic.
Now from looking at the suggestions posted above, take from them their principal and ask, What makes them strong finishes? What can I do to make them mine/different? Lastly, when you come up with something fresh don't let your excitement get the best of you, or else, someone might beat you to the finish line; keep it under wraps until you're ready to perform it.
POOF!

I think Kregg has a good point. I think it would be nice to see something other than silks and confetti. While silks and etc. can and have been great props, they have been used... a lot. Try a lot of different ideas and pick the one that best suits you.

Kregg is right on the money with this line of thinking. Thank you for that. So many magicians and manipulators are caught in this realm of inward thinking. By this I mean that whenever we seek creative ideas for acts or routines, we immediately go to our magic videos, dvds, magazines or books and seek ideas and suggestions.
Now there is nothing wrong with being inspired or using these inward sources for your magic. It can get your juices flowing. The problem is relying to often on it as the ONLY source for creativity. The problem with this inward thinking is that is does not allow the magician to be as creative as he or she could be. With inward thinking,we are funneling our mind and creativity so much that we are not allowing our mind to open up to new possibilities. What tends to happen is that we start to copy things we see and like. We start to reuse ideas that we recall from before. Sure you can create a fun and entertaining act this way but are youreally beinf as creative as you could be? My answer is simple. NO! I like to be creative through a form of outward thinking. Outward thinking is an approach I learned in art school and in my full time job as a graphic designer and illustrator. I was taught that creativity stems from creating something new or different. It is to take possibly common things and do them in a different way. To be creative one must train the mind to think outward. By this I mean think away form magic for your creative ideas. Put the magic books, DVDs and videos away. You already know allof that stuff and you already have and own more magic then you will ever need. Look outward away from magic and your creative juices can really start flowing. What I mean is simply this. A creative thinker is one who allows him or herself to really see. Now you may be saying to yourself,"learn to see? I see just fine.". However what I am referring to is really learning to see. Let me explain. As a child we learn to see things in very specific ways. When asked to draw a tree, we might draw a stick and then maybe a round circle formon top of it. That becomes our representation of a tree. Nothing is wrong with this. The problem lies in that fact that the mind remembers these symbols or ideas. So when asked in the future what a tree looks like, our mind immediately goes back to what it remembers. It brings back the symbolsour brain has recalled early on. The idea of being creative is learning to really see that there is more. It is about retraining the mind to look past what we THINK we know. For example a tree is more then what our mind wants to recall. When you really learn to seeyou realize that each tree is different. each has its own shape, texture and color. So outward thinking is realizing that you need to see there is more to magic then magic itself. Learn to look at other sources for your creative inspiration. You can be amazed at what ideas for manipulative acts can come from a simple walk in the park. You can get an idea from listening to music and allowing your mind to create visual imagery in your mind. Culture and furniture and poetry all can spark ideas if we only allow ourselves to look past the obvious. Now I am not going to lie to you. Being creative is hard work. The reason is quite simple. It is something that has to be practiced and used often to get good at it. But like any good habit, you learn to get better at it through the art of doing. Force yourself to not fall into bad habits. It is so easy to go out and buy a trick that tellsyou the patter to use, how to move and what to do. But is this being creative? Is it allowing yourself to grow with your magic? No it is not.It creates more magic clones of which we already have way too many of. Learn to take a risk by thinking creatively. Yes I said risk because being creative puts YOU in the spotlight. When you use another routine you saw or a part of an act inspired by someone else, then if it does not play well, it is so easy to blame it on someone else's work. It was not you they did not like. When you are creative then you are putting yourself out there for your audiences to judge you. There is nothing to hide behind. Like a good artist, your work is out there and it should speak for itself. Do not be afraid of this. Sure you may failat first but failure to be is never failure when it comes to being creative. Failure is only failure if you fail to learn. If you learn even one thing, then failure is a stepping stone to success. So take that risk, think outwardly with your magic. Allowyourselfto be creative and practice at it every day. Your audiences deserve that of you and you willsee the difference it really makes. Food for thought. Kyle
