I've found that the heat produced by such glues as Gorilla Glue weaken magnets. I want to permanently glue a magnet into wood. Anyone know of a glue that will hold metal and wood together without the heat?

For my current project I have found a better work-around but in the future I'm sure glue type will come up. Any suggestions welcome.

Heat is bad for magnets.

What I do, is rough up the surface of the magnet and use super glue.
That way there is no heat.
You can also try epoxy.
They give off heat...
But you can get 'instant set' epoxy and the heat is very little.

Roughing and some super glue, sounds good.

Randi: What are you using to rough?

My personal guess would be sandpaper, probably 200 grit or so. All you're really trying to do is make the surface pourous enough to give the glue something to bind to.

What clynim said.

You can use a file or emery board, but they are hard because the magnet sticks.
Or you can use a wooden emery board.

Thanks Randirain, burn a leg or whatever is appropriate at 6 Flags. I'd come out and see the show but I can't get past Little Danny (evil hated Redskins owner)getting one cent of my money. On the other hand I, like you, would accept a gig out there.

Good ole sandpaper does do the trick for roughing.
