Seems simple to me.... heat the wax. pour in iron fillings. wax is now attracted to magnets.

^^yeah^^
I guess this is a way without going through that process though |

The ad says"wax for shimming coins, cards, bills, plastic silverware, business cards, just about anything! "So ,I think ,the wax is not magnetic, but is attracted to a magnet.

Properly can DIY. But for such price, it is handy.

Nice!
WAX mixed with Iron Filings (very finely powdered dust) is a great multipurpose utility item. THEGUY26, thanks for the info.

I'm a radiologist. It isn't my nightmare. (Just don't get it near my MRI. That would be a nightmare. But a paperclip would do just as much harm.)

Jeremysweiss, just to get a bit off topic here. I have a question for you. I have metal rods in my back. If I were to go thru an MRI would there be a danger of the metal rods being ripped out of my back?

Edh:
No. No danger. (I assume they were placed there purposely and were not related to a trauma and some shrapnel has been left behind).

On second thought, I feel that the mix ratio of Iron Filings (powder) to Wax needs to be controlled. Excessive Iron Filings might get stuck to the magnet especially to a neodymium magnet which has a strong magnetic field. This might cause problems of getting rid of the iron dust off the magnet. However this can be overcome by covering the magnet with a thin smooth sheet of impervious material like Leather/ Rexene/ Plastic. This will also help act as a partial sound damper when objects get attracted to the magnet.
Iron dust will still stick to the covering but it is easy to remove the filings by carefully removing the covering and dusting it off. Anybody got this? Anybody tried this?

Ustaad
A protective covering is only needed if you wish to attract the waxed side of the object. Attracting the opposite side leave the material in place and in play (i.e. Place the material on the face of a card and attract it from the front, or use it to adhere 2 cards together leaving the substance sandwiched inside). I've used the concept for about 4 months now. I have not tried this product though. Tony |

Thank you for the first hand information Tony.
Do you have an idea about the proportion of Iron Filings to Wax? Thanks. With kind regards, Narendra

I'll PM you on this because if I post it publicly, it defeats the purpose of the marketed product.
