Just watched Reel Magic Quarterly, Volume 2. man oh man... a Joshua Jay/Joel Givens interview about Sessions, an interview with Kevin James about America's Got Talent and the upcoming Gaetan Bloom books, Garrett Thomas teaching, trick reviews by David Regal (Cigapen, Prohibition, Shrinker, Copin DVDs,Caller ID), Simon Lovell, an interview with Bill Kalush discussing the Conjuring Arts Research Center, Jon Armstrong teaching, and featuring a great interview with Jason Alexander. Amongst all of this are ads where you get to SEE many of the recent hit items and so much more. If you get this for nothing but the Jason Alexander interview you will have received many many times the value of the DVD. Wow - this is great.
If you haven't picked up Reel Magic Quarterly you are truly missing out. I'm actually amazed that this is not yet the best selling DVD of the year. Volume 1 featured Paul Harris and was equally packed full. Volume 3 is already underway and has an amazing content. For $10/issue (DVD) this is one of the true bargains in magic. Strongly strongly recommended. Tim Trono |

Forgot to mention that Wayne Kawamoto looks at a few DVDs including the Gazzo Cups and Balls DVD, Link by Nabil Murday, and Trilogy by Dan and Dave Buck.

The Reel Magic Quarterly's are the ablsolute best value in magic. I have watched volume one at least 20 times. I litteraly would have paid $50 for it ( maybe even more ).
The Pual Harris interview helped a lot with my magic. And it came in timely fashion. 2 weeks before I was with a friend and he asked if I had anything new to show him. I did. It was something I was working on for a few months. He loved the trick. Blew him away. But...he said something interesting. He said ( paraphrase ) "I always know when you're performing because you start to act and tell a story". I wasn't sure how to feel about it. I just "well, you know me well". Sure enough, Paul Harris addresses using patter when showing friends your magic ( I don't perform for all friends, I have a couple that are very analytical and have a keen eye and I value their feedback ). I took what Paul said to heart and I am a better performer for it. These "DVDzines" are GOLD. I hope they are here to stay permanently!!

How long is each issue? Couldn't find that anywhere on the site.
Previews look pretty slick, though!

I think this is the greatest thing since a TT. I couldn't believe how long this dvd was. I was hypnotized to be a couch potato from 10 pm till midnight without batting an eye. Looks like you found a new subscriber for this one. Great job!!

I've been fortunate enough to see/be involved with/hear about some of the pieces for issue #3. Reel Magic Quarterly is really a GREAT product. I hope people will support it because I think it offers a true value to the magic market.. the Paul Harris and Jason Alexander interviews offer really invaluable insight and thoughts. When I watched Vol. 2 I just kept thinking (in a good way) "and there's more?!"... Ted really packs each issue full. The Regal product reviews are hilarious and very informative. If you have not seen Reel Magic Quarterly you are truly missing out... at $10/issue this is one of the true bargains in magic.

The interview with Jason Alexander and Handsome Jack is OUTSTANDING. The thought process Jason went through to develop his Magic Castle Parlor Act is incredible!
This should be required viewing for all magicians. His logic, motivation and scripting show that performing magic is 90% presentation and 10% effect. |
