A question - is there any difference between
Needle Thru Balloon (as seen on Hocus-Pocus.com) Or Super Needle Thru Balloon (as seen on tannes.com) It seems that "super" version allows for pulling a thread or ribbon thru the balloon also. The price is different too 15 USD for Super and 7,95 at Hocus-pocus. Any recommendations? It says: Quote:

Both allow for pulling a thread or ribbon throught the balloon (though I rarely do it that way). Super Needle is a thicker, sturdier version. I would recommend this one over the standard version.
Either way, you'll want to be sure to purchase additional balloons. |

If you already know how to do it, just go to a fabric store and get a long upholstery needle. It's much cheaper that way.

I like Alan's method. I'm also a "do it your-selfer" and always prefer this option whenever possible.

I bought a great prop to go with needle through balloon. It's a magic wand and the inside of the wand is made from cork. I use it with the needle facing the other way so I can perform splash bottle on stage with the wave of a wand,

What type of thread or ribbon or yarn do you find most effective (that is, most visible and least likely to pop the balloon)?

Back in the late 70s and early 80s we combined needle through balloon with needle through arm. We used the same needle but without the blood.

Dynamike: Once loaded on you, you decide when to do the production. You do not have to do it right away.
Frank: No problem! It is a nice gimmick. It does what it is supposed to do, and does it well. Have a nice day! Louis Jutras |

With the Splash Bottle, can the bottle be produced by either the top or bottom?
(Specifically, there are gimmicked bottles that allow the production of a dove after the bottle production. However, too much "tug" will wreck the train. It is better to pull from the bottom.) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander PS --- I like the idea of popping a bubble to get a bottle of champagne and then seeing birds. |

Hummm... Maybe we should start a new thread on the splash bottle!
You get the bottle out of the gimmick by pulling the neck of the bottle (you do need some tugging...) . Depending on how you make the production, you may end up holding the bottle for all to see by holding it in both hands (as when the balloon bursts), neck of bottle (pulling it out of an empty paper bag...), or bottom (when I produce it from silks...). Note that this method allows for the production of an "ungimmicked" bottle (although you could possibly use it to produce a gimmicked one)! Therefore, if also producing doves, make sure you don't accidentally knock the bottle on them while still in their harness! Bob, I like your idea too! Have a nice day, Louis Jutras |
