Can they be connected?
Let's say I bought a 16 foot track, but then moved to a place that had a 32 foot stage opening. Could I carry two 16 foot tracks and connect them, or do I need both a 32 foot trach and a 16 foot track?

You can connect them. You will use a piece to connect them together, that has set screws to make minute adjustments so it tracks well.
