Hello Micheal,
You've made many posts with questions regards what might be best in this or that but it's difficult for us to advise when we know so little about what may suit you best. You mentioned in a past post that you own 30 illusions. 30 illusions is a lot of illusions to own so we might be recommending something that you already own or something close to it. That would be a waste to time. If you could tell us what those 30 illusions are then I think we could better advice on your illusion questions in the future. Best, Tim |

Yes,mike, in fact EVERY illusion is good. It depends what you do with it. If you have a big trunk, a staff, some budget or not etc...
For a levitation, when you have a limited budget it is often better to have a good suspension than a bad levitation. Cause a good levitation cost money, because of complexe mechanisms used. In you case, a Broom -chair - carpet - neon -guitar suspension (or what you want !)ther can be a good idea. I even had a STEREO SUSPENSION in my show. Broom suspension (and his different versions) is easy to store and it play big for a reasonnable investment. I can add super x type levitations. For my opinion, I am not very fan of ''suitcase levitation type'' (on a suspicious table... ). those type of levitation who make rise a personn about 20 cm high... and that you can't move after the trick because of a carpet on the floor...etc... Vostinic levitation, progressive levitation etc If you see what I mean... I don't like those type of things. But I can understand that others magicians think different. It don't fit in my show for different reason. But for a performer who wants only a levitation for his final, why not. There is SO much materiel in the market ! that's why (like Timothy has well explained) we can't answer your question. Just give you an opinion. An opinion to help you,ok, but only an opinion. For a real levitation, if you have budget : for me the best are the POLE LEVITATION and (the top of the top ) the ULTIMATE LEVITATION build by...Splash creative service in vegas (If I remember). This last one is fantastic and so so practicle.. But not cheap !!:-) Stephane Arnow |

All these topics seem to be very basic beginner questions.. strange to hear from someone who owns 30 illusions. Maybe I missed something somewhere.
Gamallo (spelling) is a great levitation that is somewhat affordable and easy to load in and out. Super X is the cheapest and easiest to work with. I personally would sell a couple illusions and invest back into a blaney suspension if I had the resources. There are normally some good levitations on magicauction at good prices. |

I think you have to go back to my origional response. It is actually your responisbility to get as many book and DVDs on illusions as you ca (50 books would be cheaper than any good illusion). Once you read those then you'll be able to ask pointed and informed questions. Illusion doesn't mean easier it generally means more responsiblity. You have to get a working knowledge. I am serious, read all of the posts here on the Café about illusions then get about 10 of the best books on illusions. Not fad books but good older solid books and most anything by Steinmeyer. Then you'll start to really get an education. Illusions are science and math and theory nt just something you learn in from of an audience and rehearsing. Whats, a gooseneck, why's DeKolta important, whats the best lighting for Black Art? These are all answered in books.
Best, Jason (Sorry about any missed spelling) |

Not nessasarly affordable, but the Splashes levitation does the job. There is one on Magic Auction right now.
A nice alternative is to pick-up Jim Steinmeyer's book, Device and Illusion, and check out the balloon suspension in there. It's a great suspension type illusion that looks deceptive, and is different from the norm! Sam |

Michael, how about if we start asking you questions now. What are your 30 illusions? What one is the best? What is the best to bring by one person to a school?
