But go through the "On the Loose" in the explanations, and in one of the effects, he says "oh by the way - the card from mouth is done this way...." and then he shows. I don't recall which effect or dvd its on, but they deserves to be watched in detail one more time anyway. Hey, but there is so many oter reasons to buy this set anyway |

I first learned Cards From Mouth from The Art Of Magic(Downs), years ago, but Malone handles it as good as I have seen on video, and I'm sure he will go into much more detail on the new dvd's.

It is explained in detail on "Here I Go Again!" as well as the new "hang time handling" for this "effect". There is also a little of the thinking behind its use covered as well.

Most people I think got it from seeing me do it somewhere or another and most people I see don't do it well. I have some little tips for you and things that I do that I think makes it look really good and that's what I want to share with you now" This is about 10 - 15 minutes of technique, so guaranteed if you are interested in learning the right way to do it, you will get more off of this DVD than you will from On The Loose. |

That sounds great. I didn't actually doubt that there would be a very detailed explanation. Only thing I'm saying is that sometimes we magicians already do have the explanation of a very simple but effective effect, but instead of working and rehearsing and experimenting with it, we are waiting for a new and more detailed explanation to appear on a dvd or book. Cards from mouth is an extremely simple effect, and it is explained several places already (Mcbride, and even on Malone's other DVD's). I really look forward to hear about Bill Malone's tips details and experience through many years with this effect - but I believe we should all be able to work that out already based on the info from his previous DVD releases. Even without the explanation of this effect, you can just look on the many occasions on the "on the loose DVD's" where Bill performs it. Study those examples, and you really don't need further explanations. I'm sure with Bill's details on the new DVD's it becomes even clearer to everybody, and we will start seeing every magician coughing cards out of their mouth. Having said that - Bill Malone's releases is a wealth of great routining, strong magic, audience management and comedy magic. He is simply one of the best in the game, and I like the fact that he sometimes keeps it very very simple. E.g. his version of Al Schneiders Matrix, perfect, he is honest to the original routine, he doesn't make it more complex, but he adds a simple and yet funny and very magical ending to the routine. I personally cheerish the Maxi Twist, Cards across, How cheater cheat and many other of his effects. Can't wait to get hold of these new DVD's. |

Bill makes a great point to detail what he feels are the differences in his handling of "Cards From Mouth" which make the difference.
You have typical killer Malone here again. Great entertainment, great technique, and tips from one of the very top pros in the world. A real triple threat. A couple times a year I see something at these shoots which I get to learn and covet for a year or longer while the project runs through the production end of things. I thought the Steve Forte No Look Aces was just such a beast, but these DVDs have come out so quick I never had the time to get it down well enough to bust it out in public. This is a routine which gives you the look of killer card cheatin' chops if you can get it down so it flows. The original false waterfall shuffle by Ron Wahl is here, and it looks killer in Bill's hands... and with the tips he also teaches from others. It is not hard to learn either. Tribute to Carson features some killer palming and great thinking behind that palming. Jumping Aces has some killer color changes running up to the climax. Those are just some of the highlites. I'm sure you will be reading many more very soon. I found these DVDs to be a great value... except for the parts where I am in the shot. Just ignore those parts. Cheers, Tom |

I'm surprised that no one has commented on this set since receiving them! Surely someone not connected to the production of the DVDs (Tom Cutts) or works with L&L (me) or sells/distributes them (Tim Trono)has a review, comment, complaint or praise for these.
I mean it's only more of his life's work, his bread & butter. No pressure, just want to read some other opinions on this set. |

I just got the set today. Just some brief thoughts as I've only watched about half.
1) Bill is just as funny ( maybe more so because he's looser with his humor and he explains that ). To those thnat it matters, the audience is wonderful. Some new faces and a couple of favorites ( Frank is one of my favorites ) 2) The Material is as strong as from the On The Loose series. The bonus material and TIPS are much stronger than the first set as he's directing it to folks that are interested in making money performing. The killer for me ( so far ) A Tribute To Johhny Carson. A devestating Cards To Pocket! Another L&L grandslam. Folks on The Café know that when I like something, I say so and if I don't like it, I make sure I say so ( and get some folks yelling at me for it ). I don't have to have won an Oscar to know if the latest George Clooney movie is a winner or stinks and I don't have to be appearing at the Magic Castle this week to know if a DVD is any good. Bill is tipping worker material. Effects and gags that he has used his whole life in bars and restaurants. And..I got a GREAT experience ordering from the folks at http://www.madhattermacicshop.com. I heard good things about them and gave them a try-WOW. What a great team of folks. I got my set in two days. Is that fast? http://www.madhattermagicshop.com/magics......7f6780a9

Great Tip Chris, this store has very low prices, I ordered my set a few minutes ago. The worst thing for me is the shipping cost, almost 100 USD by fedex express, but to see the Bill Malone set is priceless

I WILL say that Bill Malone needs NO review in order to gain my trust as a customer. He solidified his reputation long before releasing the "On The Loose" set. The new DVDs are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, and I have cleared my schedule (as much as possible) for the next few days in order to savor every second of what will likely be the best DVD material released in 2007. Thanks Bill! Thanks Mr. Falanga! I cannot wait!!! |

I praise DVD's that contain material that are "workers". Material that can be used in the real world to get laughs, gasps and make money eprforming. I suggest you find someone in the Café that does reviews that you agree with and go with them.

I've seen Chris post negative reviews before. There's one review that I did a while back, that I wish I would have had the courage that Chris has shown in some of his posts. But that's neither here nor there. This thread is about Bill's new dvds.
I plan on ordering these this week and can't wait to view them. |

MagicSanta gives VERY detailed reviews. And, he takes heat when he says something that isn't agreed with by someone ( usualy the creator;-) I'm sure he'll review Bills new DVD set.
On The Malone Spongeball routine explanation, did you see the homeless person Bill is using in the explanation? Wasn't that nice of Louis Falanga to allow a homeless person in to see magic and get a meal?

Evan, I appreciated your post. You were not negative at all. I have at times questioned reviews from people. We spend ALOT of hard earned money and want good advice.
I've been watching these throughout the day. There is a lot of material here and a great deal of thought went into producing them. There's a difefrent vibe on this set than the ON The Loose ones. Bill wanted to present these with some humor that he did in his bar days. A pro can distinguish when and if he can use this type of humor. SPeaking of the On the Loose series, I already did some of the material on it. I don't think I added one routine, yet it's on my NEVER SELL shelf and I refer back to them often. The same with Tommy Wonder's series. For Bill's new set, even though I do a cards to pocket routine, the one he does is much different than other ones out there and is killer. I'm adding that one. It's going to be fun hearing the favorites of other folks here.

I just received the “Here I go Again!” set.
Let me start off by saying that I give these DVDs a 2 thumbs up. However, I was not as happy with them as I was with his “On the loose” set. “Here I go again!” is a mixed bag. There are a few throw away items that make it seem like there is more material on these DVDs then there really is (i.e. Autographed Baby Gag, The Old Rope Trick, Ernie’s Sex Test). I also did not find him as funny in this set as “On the Loose” and seeing him gain so much weight since the last set of DVDs kind of made me sad. Overall, there are some great effects that I cannot wait to work on. I would recommend anyone who does not have “On the Loose” to start with those. If you liked those, then “Here I Go Again” will surely please you. |
