Sorry to be late gettin in. Noticed this a while ago but haven't had time much to read most posts let alone reply.
There are a ton of advantages workin behind a bar. You have the addition of accessible storage. You have more control of your surroundings You have a great acomplise at your disposal.(The idea that a bartender is too busy to get involved is a little odd. I trained bartenders for years and one of the first things I told them was that making the drinks had to be second nature by their second month. They should be able to carry on a conversation with customers, keep them entertained, have a feel for the mood of the room and keep an eye out for issues. If there is a magician entertaining the crowd some of their duty has been compensated for. If a bar just wanted someone to make drinks there are plenty of machines on the market out there that do a great job you never see them because a bartender is so much more. Also you have that lovely bar between you and the customer it comes in so handy on a regular basis. Have a great time behind the bar Steve but don't get too spoiled by it. |
