Hello.

I hope some of you feel like watching a couple of newly recoded videos of mine and post a comment or two. I know a lot of the flaws already but that does not mean I can't learn something new. I posted the links in the video section. Here is the link to that post:

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=217&0

7 videos in total. I hope you enjoy them.

Sincerely,

Kim

ps. I had to compress the videos to .wmv but hopefully the current quality is enough, I'm not too good with these things. When I first saved them they were a couple of 100 mb each, so had to decrease the quality quite a bit.

Very nice Kim. I think your work has improved more than anyones that I have seen around here.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Well done! And the quality of the video footage makes the whole thing even more nice to watch.
***, you have a really tiny step for the "slow method" push trough...
Just a quick comment-question about the Push Through ("Quick method") video. After the push through, you quickly go straight for the cut and for an up-the-ladder cut. I like this sequence as it makes the illusion better. But I wonder if it would look even more "natural" or "smooth" not to go straight for the cut, but to make a slight break after the shuffle (as if you we're just quietly adjusting the deck as in the slow method") ? Roughly speaking, a "mix" between a "slow" and a "quick" method?

Thanks for the replies guys and the nice comments. Now, someone who feels like giving me advice? (except for h2o =])

By the way, for you who are too lazy to read what I have written on the other thread Smile - Notice that the greek deal is simply a prototype of what to come. As soon as I have get rid of the fingerflash and ugly setup I hope it will become quite good at least. But please, feel free to give other tips!

The brief in the slow method, yeah it is quite small. I've been down to about 0,75 mm (when Im lucky) but usually it is more like 1,5-2 mm to be on the safe side, but will work on that as well.

ah, will try to have the time to work on everything, have barely touched a deck of cards since april because of the summerjob, school etc so I guess it is time for some practise again.

h20 Im not sure Im following.

Regards,

Kim

Sorry for not being so clear. I meant to keep the same "rhythm" of action as in the "quick method" but as you're pushing the packets together, instead of pulling out the packets in a continuous action to the push through, why not pause a slight instant as if you were squaring the deck, before running the cuts.
I was wondering if by doing this, it would add more "natural" to the the overall action. Hope it's a little bit clear, quite tough to explain in plain words :/

Isn't that what I am doing in the slow method? *confused*

Yes, but in the "slow method", it's too.... slow, I mean too meticulous Smile that why I was referring of some kind of "mix" between the "slow" and the "fast".
Note that it's not an "advice" I'm giving, it's just a personal thought and that's why it's difficult to clearly explain by words such "rhythm feelings"...

Well that is what I am practising to accomplish h2o. But as it is a difficult shuffle it will take time. As I have mentioned earlier, these moves are nowhere near done. The slow method as an example is merely what technique I will be using. The shuffle I do today is too slow even for a "slow method", if I don't recall incorrectly I said that in my post in the videosection. Thanks for your thoughts though, they are appreciated.

Will probably take down the videos soon, 4 people have replied out of 80+ views so far, now I definitely know what doc meant.

By the way Kim, as you were asking for different shooting angles, I think that for the second deal, a quite interesting angle for it is one from your right side.
When I'll have time I'll shoot one of my second deal and send you a link to watch it. I use the same grip as you, but my take of the second is slightly different than yours. It's one of my favorite move and I've worked quite a lot on it to try to get the best illusion from this right angle.

Sounds great h2o, I haven't worked on the second that much, so I appreciate all the help I can get. Looking forward to it.

Kim

ps. I recorded both from the front and right side with my webcam before, will do it again with this camera.

I just saw the vids and I appreciate them. I love watching these things. I'm always impressed with Kims stuff cause it seems like he just gets better all the time. Doc you know I always love the stuff you show. There isn't anything I can offer that would help Kim, Clock, Jeremy, Doc, or most anyone that would help their card handling. You're all excellent card handlers. All I can ever say on that front is; "Great Job". But I always appreciate it when you guys show what you've been working on.

It would be cool if some of the "names" who would never deign to post on these boards but monitor them constantly would give these guys a tip or two in private. Hopefully there is some of that going on, once in a while.

Perhaps you could reduce the size of the step during the up the ladder cuts that are employed during the quicker of the two push through shuffle sequences? Either that or try modifying a gambler's false cut in this shuffle sequence?

As for most everything else that you show, it looks as though you try hard and are improving all the time. Keep on keepin' on.

Kim your slow push-thru is excellent. All vids are great but this stood out for me.

Both push thru's are utterly deceptive, but the slow one I've not often seen.

Hello everyone. Thank you for replying, no fun posting videos if people don't comment them Smile

Doc, thanks for all your comments on youtube, I really appreciate it. I will try what you said about the second deal.

card cheat, I practised about 2-3 up to 4 hours a day before the summer but have barely touched the cards since april so I think it is time to start practising again but hey, I don't mind improving without practising either Smile

Stilts, nope that is not the wimhurst deal, it is my own but definitely based on the wimhurst deal. I have the booklet but I did not like the erdnase grip. All my deals will more or less have the same grip in the end, I am working on centers every now and then as well but will take a few months before I post a video so you can help me even more Smile

Silverking, thanks for the comment, I like the method but for now it is too slow for my taste, but that is just a matter of practise. The brief will probably be a bit smaller as well but not very much, as I said earlier, 0,75 mm with a lot of luck is about the smallest one I have had and succeded with the stripout. I think that is somewhat my limit, perhaps 0,5 mm but I don't know if that is even necessary Smile.

Vandy, if you feel you don't have anything to offer, just a comment about what you think, is good enough. I'd prefer 10 comments telling me they look good or bad instead of an empty thread.

If you are interested I will keep posting videos.

Sincerely,

Kim

Kim, All your stuff looks great, and it will only get better. On your quick push through give this a try, as soon as the blocks come through put pressure between your thumb and the two middle fingers in front. This will create a slight hesitation and make the cards easier to push through. Try doing the up the ladder with the cards going more towards the front. I know you only use one finger in front, so this may not work for you at all……………….Ron

Here's my comment. I thought everything looked really, really good. The false shuffles were very, very nice. As well as the Faros. The false deals, including the greek looked nice too. Just good looking work all around. The bottoms and seconds would fly right past most people from what it looks like on the video. They would probably fly right past me in the right circumstances. I can't speak with the authourity of a lot of the guys around here. But each of the clips looked very good to me. You could basically clean out everyone, that plays in the types of card games that I play in regularly, with those shuffles and deals. I'm not talking world class fast company. But still, guys that have played a lot of cards.
