Good luck, sure you'll be fine.
If you remember watching wizard of oz and those flying monkeys? I was allowed to keep them after filming..if you need help getting out they can probably do it in an hour, they will steal anything shiny though. |

Thanks all. What kind words.
So far ok. We were under some wimpy kind of Evacuation order (Evacuation Advisory) but was waiting for the Evac Manditory. We got that but in further checking on maps and other high tech stuff like 3 tv stations and 2 Radio stations I was able to determine the Manditory was for a few streets over. So rather than sit in the truck all night I figured I mount a vigle and wait for the actuall call to this address. (They use a reverse 911 system here) We were not going to Disneyland (Brett takes me seriously. Quaint.) but there was no way I was going to wind up at the stadium with the rest of the population. Over 300,000 evacuated so far. That is huge! I figure when we go we'll just find a parking lot and wait it out.. So all is well so far, we expect to get booted out sometime today or this evening. ...the fire is still on the way here, winds died down over night but are picking back up. Thanks all.

Doug, perhaps this will inspire you to make a crisp (arsonists) hand holding an charred match.

As of Tuesday late afternoon, evacuations are being lifted for Chula Vista, Solana Beach, and a few other areas of San Diego. It seems that the firefighters are getting the upper hand on all of these out-of-control blazes. The winds were certainly a lot lighter today, so that has helped a lot. Things are looking better, but definitely not out of the woods yet!

I guess we ARE out of the woods unless the monster turns a few degrees this way again. The winds did a nice job today of being absent. (at least here.)
Yeah stuff is just stuff...but picking ONE toy each to take out of our hundreds (each with a personal meaning) was a good hint at how hard it would be if I had taken it really seriously. I was pretty sure the fire would not come here. One funny thing...they were using the NEW Senior Citzens Center as a refuge and telling thousands to go there (among other places). I would not have even packed had I noticed that this Center is right across just 2 streets away in a new park I've never been to. So there aletrt was pretty bogus, they kno9w the fire was not destined to flame out neighborhood! What, I'm going to evacuate across the street?
